Probably a stupid question, but one can't be too sure. Would a timepiece like this be allowed in the UMAT? (Attached)
I know they mentioned Watches but unfortunately I've never really needed one and don't have one. I also feel like I'd rather a bigger watch face in order to track time.

Hmm, the info booklet only says analogue wristwatch so I'm really not sure. It might be best to email ACER to check with them, they're quite responsive :)

Is the free 2017 matrix umat paper supposed to be easy (because that’s what I read a few times on this website)? I got 90/134 for it in 2.5hrs + 10 min reading time

need to pace myself better lolll

Marks were
S1: 36/48
S2: 26/44
S3: 28/42 (wat the hell)

I'm experiencing the same problem right now - time management.
Any tips on improving speed/timing?
I'm getting marks in the 80-90/134 range, so I would really love some advice on improving my speed/timing to improve these marks :)

does anyone who have done acer practice exam 4 remeber if any of those section 2 questions were ever on past umat exams. i definitely remember certain S1 questions on 2016 and 2017 umat ( cochlear implant and sperm-maze questions) but not sure about S2. furthermore i believe that there were some similiar s3 questions on previous umats aswell. i reckon this exam mirrors the umat pretty similiar in terms of difficulty but im not really sure as section 2 seems alot easier than i remeber. finished with 25ish minutes remaning
i got 90/134 --- pretty bad
s1 24/48 --- hahah wtf ( so many shit mistakes made, fml)
s2 36/44 ---- seems a bit high imo ( i feel like s2 might have been a bit easier than the umat)
s3 30/42 --- meh ( probs could have done a bit better)

does anyone know relatively speaking what my overall percentile would be for the individual sections aswell as overall, given this is a good mirror of the umat?

overall kinda disappointed as i got over 94+ for all my medentry exams( however could be due to the fact this is my third time doing medentry as i didnt do this well last year, however i dont actively remeber any questions but maybe passively idk, cause i was finishing with like 30 ish minutes remaining)
oh well good luck everyone, hoping third times the charm but god knows at this point.
cheers

I honestly think exam 4 felt pretty much like the real thing but it didn’t take as much time. Idk how to put it but it was difficult but didn’t take long (somehow).

I don’t rememebr any S2 passages. Last year after umat we compiled a list of all the questions and I checked that list and couldn’t see any overlap with the exam 4 s2

I kind of feel like I remember some of the s3 ones.

S1 had overlap with both umat 2016 and umat 2017. They used so many questions for s1 from these two papers.

I finished with around same time as u with 96/134 and felt like I did shit since Acer exams are supposed to be piss easy but had no one to compare with. I think lower scores than usual (comparing to first 3 Acer exams) would pass as decent scores for Acer exam 4

Third time charm for me too hopefully lolll

Ohhh I see
How did you go sectionally?

to anyone who did well in the umat, can I ask what you did in the week prior? I've been reading mixed reviews of what should be done in this week. I'm planning to sit a couple more practice exams but medentry seems to advise against that? any advice?

At the start of the week I sat 2 more practice exams, then did nothing apart from one or two drills and just going over my notes. Definitely don't overwork yourself, it's better to approach UMAT from a fresh perspective (the actual exam might be different from MedEntry ones). Don't stress out either. I kinda just realised that my UMAT result was, for the better part, out of my control- it's not a test that you can study for as such- so just went into the exam and tried my best.

So for the last 5 days you didn't do much practice and just relaxed? I'm struggling to decide how much/little I should do in this last week to maximise my results. I don't want to do too much so I exhaust myself but I also don't want to slack off so close to the exam

I can give two perspectives here:

I did essentially nothing UMAT wise in the last week - I think my UMAT preparation was done many years before the actual exam actually happened, because I just happened to like those Mensa IQ test puzzles and done loads of psychometric testing at school.

My partner just did loads of timed exams (she prepared from the UMAT from previously never seeing any questions like it) in the couple of weeks before the UMAT (naturally, she beat my score).

Yep, I just mostly relaxed. At this point it's better to consolidate your knowledge instead of trying to cram more things in, if that makes sense.
Trust me, you're not supposed to study for UMAT in the first place, so you should consider yourself already at an "advantage" over everyone else if it makes you feel better (though how much of an advantage prep actually gives you is debatable.)
Got 98th percentile so obviously my tactic worked for me. :D

The most important thing is to not stress yourself out or mentally exhaust yourself before the exam.

Like Mana just said, everyone has a different approach. I know some people who walked in with zero prep and got 99th/100th percentiles.

Thanks guys. I guess it's best to do whatever is going to make you feel more comfortable walking in to the exam. I still haven't cracked 100+ in any practice exams which is starting to make me feel as though I need to put in a lot more work. But realistically there's not much improvement that can be made in a week anyway!

No problem, best of luck! Yep not much you can improve this week. Give yourself a brain break :)
