Your qualification/s do not meet the minimum requirement for the following:

  • Pref 1 785000 B Medical Science and Doctor of Medicine (Joint Medical Program) at Uni Newcastle/UNE 25 Feb 2019 (Course type: CSP)

Did anyone who got rejected get this? Or is this for bottom of the barrel

Thanks LessMedHopeFull. Is it worth calling them today? Thanks :)

Sometimes the codes on UAC are screwy and cause unintentional panic. I think this likely means you were not eligible for an offer this round as you’ve not met additional criteria, namely the interview which you’ve not (yet) sat.

UAC don’t determine interview eligibility, nor do they invite you to interviews, that’s all the university.

Also got this, how come? Rural, Gpa above 5, 85 Umat. Does this just mean the interview just didn’t go as well as I thought?

Does accepting one offer still leaves scope for other offers higher up?
Yes, depending on the course you’ll still be eligible for offers for higher preferences in future offer rounds if you accept a lower preference now.

Thanks,
What if they also state that you do not meet the additional criteria for the choices higher up?do I still stand a chance then?

Does anyone know what the requirements are for 99.95 ATAR if I'm doing A levels. I'm pretty sure 4 A*s split over 2 years is fine right?
(Context: App to UoS's BSc/MD Double degree got rejected because of ' more competitive candidates' )

I'd need to know more details. What courses are higher up that you missed out on in this round? If it's a medicine/dentistry course and you've already interviewed then I'd say this unfortunately means you aren't likely to gain a place in a future round as you've been deemed ineligible. No harm in leaving in the preferences and accepting your lower preference offer now, though.

This is very difficult to say and it may very well be that the conversion from A levels is just unfavourable given that it's not a rank system in the same way that an ATAR is.

To explain further - USyd has around 30 places for which it interviews maybe 45 candidates. If you look at the cohort of people taking A Levels there are EASILY more than 45 (probably many many many times this) who manage to get 4 A*s. As there is no real way to distinguish these, USyd could very well just say that these are all lower than 99.95 because by getting 4A*'s you haven't at all distinguished yourself from the remainder of applicants to the point that they could confidently state that you are in the top 0.01% of the cohort (mind you, 4 A*'s is an amazing academic achievement in itself).

Yes, there are conversion tables out there that will convert your aggregate score to a 99.95, but USyd has to set the bar so that it only interviews around 45 people.

Yes I got this too! Not sure what it means

If you have already interviewed there, it means you didn't make the first round offers (but may still be eligible for future round offers).

If you haven't already interviewed there, then this is dependent on your second round interview if you have one (obviously if you don't have one, you miss out on a spot there this year).

Just received this reply when asking about where I stand for subsequent round offers & feedback from JMP Admissions [MedStudentsOnline.com.au] Quick Questions Thread #2: 2018-2019

So I didn’t make it into JMP or UWS. Do you guys think there’s a chance that I’ll get an offer in a later round?

Hey Sachik,

As per Smelly Boy's screenshot it looks like JMP might not be doing a 2nd round, but I'd guess WSU still would (several people with WSU early round offers from Dec 20 may now have received a UNSW or JMP offer that they prefer and will then reject WSU - meaning it's likely they'll need to send out more offers, I think)

Best of luck with it

If JMP do second rounds do we need to do anything in UAC to make the application eligible for further round offers?
