Hi everyone!
I am currently applying for USNW Medicine Gateway Entry Scheme and was qualified for all, except for lowest 25% socio-economic disadvantaged areas in Australia. I do have some EAS adjustment factors but I'm not sure whether they will even consider that if I don't hit all the criteria.
Could anyone please help me with this, I am so confused! I'm also taking the UCAT next week and so far my highest percentile was only 86th for the practice tests. Can someone please give me some info if they get into UNSW Medicine with low UCAT and ATAR approximately around 97-99?

The Gateway Scheme needs to have ALL 4 criteria fulfilled to be eligible. Since you aren’t in the lowest quartile for socioeconomic status, you’ll be considered as a Standard Applicant and do not qualify for the scheme. However, your EAS points will be added to your ATAR, so don’t worry about that part.Hi everyone!

That's very sad to hear. Do you have any data for other unis (such as Western Sydney) considering the fact that I'm putting Western Sydney as first preference and UNSW as second? Thanks

Yes! MSO has compiled a list of Med and Dent Offers List you can find here. Offers and their ATARs/GPAs and UCAT scores are also listed. However, just a reminder that these scores can serve as an indicator, and we have no idea their relative performance on interviews, either.Oh I see
Oh and for the record, if you're still applying to UNSW, I suggest you just put it on there because they will still consider your EAS bonus points even if you aren't in the Gateway Entry SchemeOh I see
. Yes the scores listed on MSO are absurdly high, but EAS should (maybe?) make up for it. Worst case scenario is they deny you an interview spot, but if your UCAT is good enough, you'll never know.

They haven't said why they made the change I don't think (at least not to my knowledge). My speculation: The old system IIRC weighted ATARs as 50% of the academic score component for non-standard applicants regardless of their post-high school achievements (e.g. they could have done a PhD and ATAR would still make up 50% of their academic score). By doing that you rule out a lot of people who may not have achieved a ridiculously high ATAR but have gone on to perform to a very high standard in tertiary education. So the change to the system is probably so that it doesn't rule out those applicants. Unfortunately, they still require a minimum of 96 I think though, so it still rules out those who achieved <96 or so, so I guess it's not perfect but still a step in the right direction. This is a good change in my opinion, imagine being years out of high school and have consistently performed well in your tertiary education and being ruled out because you didn't get a high 99 ATAR. I hope in the future, this is expanded to not require a minimum ATAR of 96.

We've seen admission formula changes at other med schools too in the last few years (Adelaide, UTas, UWA, UQ). Sometimes it's simply because a new incoming Med Dean prefers a different way.
It depends on too many factors to give you a meaningful reply yet. Check out the offers threads from the past few years for a decent guide.

Not exactly. Selection rank includes any adjustements for example from eas. A 99.5 atar would have a selection rank of 99.5 granted that it did not have any adjustments. An atar 97.5 with 2 EAS points would also have a selection rank of 99.5

We (MSO) specifically advocate use of ‘interview invite’ and ‘place offer’ terminology to minimise this confusion.
