Can I get some recommendations for easy 300 level papers (sem 1 or sem 2)?

I was going to take MANT337 for semester 1 and just found out that I have a lab clash with my major paper (ANAT331) that can't be restreamed so I need to look for a different 300 level paper.

I am a 3rd yr BSc student majoring in Anatomy and these are the papers I took so far (just in case this can be helpful for some people!)

2nd year sem 1:
EDUC252 - very easy, got an A+ without watching any of the lectures, just went to all the tutorials
NEUR201 - new paper so there were no past papers for exam revision, but other than that it was okay
ANAT241 - pretty chill, lots to memorise

2nd year sem 2:
ANAT243 - there were lab quizzes each week right after the lab (closed book, 10min time limit) each worth 1% summing up to a total 10%. other than this the contents were very interesting and pretty chill if you are all caught up with the lectures. missed a lot of points from the lab quiz because i was always behind with the lectures but still got A+
BTNY202 - very easy paper, the labs can be very boring but other than that it was pretty chill. paper is separated into 2 parts (each taught and marked by different lecturers). Didn't go to any of the lectures and only watched some of the recordings, but still got A+
MAOR110 - well known HSFY paper but took it because of anatomy major requirements. Easy A+
ZOOL314 - mid-term exam was almost exactly the same as past papers. lots of questions recycled every year BUT i think the lecturers were now aware of this and changed the final exam questions (especially Bart's section). One of the lecturer's (Bart) lectures were very boring and content heavy and not relevant to exam questions at all, but still manageable overall. Was lucky and still got an A+

2nd year PXSS:
RELS344 - you can choose between RELS244 / 344 but definitely recommend taking 344 because they are exactly the same papers (same lecture content, same assessments) except theres an extra section about hieroglyphs in 344. i feel like 344 is easier than 244 because the extra hieroglyphs section reduces the weighting of quizzes/assignments so theres less pressure. everything was open book and online so it was a pretty easy paper. Easy A+ def recommend

3rd year summer school - still taking these papers but this is how i feel so far
MATS204 - 100% online, very chill so far. haven't got any marks yet but i think it should be fine

FINC204 - on campus BUT no attendance for both lectures and tutorials. the new lecturer is a chinese guy and his accent is hard to understand but hes pretty much just reading from the lecture slides so i dont think its a big deal. pretty chill paper and apparently 40% got A+ last year :)
Hey, for EDUC252, what infromation do u think its important to take in from the lectures or tutorials and what advice do u have to do well in this paper

Hi I am a second year biomed student trying to figure out my paper selection for this year. I'm taking EDUC252 right now, I was wondering if anyone had taken EDUC259 (sem 2) and how you found the paper? Any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you!

Hiii for me I didn't go to any of the lectures, did watch a few recordings at the start but ended up stop watching them because firstly it was too boring and secondly all those contents were taught in the tutorials as well so I thought they were a bit of waste of time, lol. I did look at the lecture slides before each tutorial so that I could look like I was prepared.

I think its rlly important to actually participate in the tutorials because your tutor will mostly likely mark your assignments and its always good to leave a good impression! Always ask for feedback a day or two before you submit the assignments as well.

For the assignments - I don't know if they've changed it but for last year (2025) there were 2 assignments each worth 50% of final grade.

For assignment 1 - this one is based on what you choose to "learn" and I did mine on drawing. I ended up spending like 50 bucks on buying the materials but please don't do that - there are so many other cheaper options. Keep logging your progress throughout the learning process because the report basically is on your progress - what challenges you had, what were the fun/easy parts, etc. With these you will have to apply some concepts from the lecture slides/tutorials.

For assignment 2 - this one felt much longer than assignment 1 because it was divided into 4 parts. We were given like 7-8 topics and had to choose 4 of them to write about. We got like a month to work on this assignment and it was really helpful for me to finish it about a week before the due date so that I could prepare for finals exams for my other papers.

Hope this helps!

Hey guys,

Does anyone know, or have experience with how our weighted GPA is calculated if we’ve transferred from another degree? In my case I transferred into a BSc and only did 16 papers, which is 288 points out of 360 (for 3-year degrees). The rest of the points were from credit that was transferred from my previous degree. Do they use my credit from previous study to fill out the point gap (72 points = 4 papers) in the GPA calculations?

I did EDUC259 in third year and the paper was really easy especially after doing 252 second year. Just make sure you get to know the tutor and go to all the tutorials, don’t bother with the lectures. I did it with one other post grad friend and we both got 95+ without putting in much effort. It’s basically the same mark allocation as 252 with two essays making up the bulk of the grade.

Hey guys

I was in hsfy in 2021 however did not complete and had to withdraw under exceptional circumstances due to a concussion. When I applied 2 years ago after my bachelors I forgot to declare it on the application form however I apply again this year and I have no ongoing symptoms I was wondering when I declare it this year is it just an information for them or they could decline me based on that concussion ?

Hey guys I calculated my gpa of 7.8 over the 4 years. Is it worth applying with this gpa. Any thoughts or know anyone with this gpa who got in.

always worth applying but make sure you also apply to Auckland too, Otago GPA transfers favouritely to the Auckland weighted GPA.

Hi! does anyone have any tips on how to study for ENGL218. I'm finding it quite difficult to study for, especially in terms of final exams as I feel like the lecture content doesn't really relate

Hi, I'm currently a second year at UC who's looking at applying for graduate entry to medicine next year (for 2028 entry).

I was planning on doing two summer school papers this year, and then one next year (december 2027), but based on the information UC has provided, grades for papers taken in the december session of 2025 didn't come out until 16th of January 2026. I was wondering if anyone knows how this would be considered by admissions, if results are released this late again (eg, if I don't get my grade for the december 2027 paper until mid jan 2028)? Would I just be waitlisted until they have all my grades to make a decision, or would they just not consider that paper? Thanks

You would not be waitlisted at first. They just put your application "on hold" until you have your final official transcript uploaded to them.

Have a Look at

If you are planning to take the Dcember 2027 paper, make sure to email otago that your final results will be released in Jan and also contact UC in advance and urge them that you need to have your final transcript ASAP.

Awesome, that makes sense thanks. Would you say its a bad idea to take the december 2027 paper if it means that there would be a delay in when my application could be processed?

For papers taken december 2025, results came out 16th of January, so I'd just be a bit concerned about how many places would be available at that point if that happens again in 2028 (but like you said, I'd definitely talk to both universities in advance), but I know taking summer school papers are beneficial in terms of how otago weights degrees.

Do you know if it would work the same way, in terms of being placed on hold at Auckland?

Thanks again!

Hello! I was wondering if anyone could share any resources for SPEX310? I am taking it this semester and, while the content isn't super difficult, I am struggling to study for the final exams because there aren't any past papers. If someone who took the paper has any resources it would be very helpful! Thank you!! (´・ω・)
