USyd USyd Medicine: Provisional Entry Questions and General Discussion

Hello A1,
I just received an invite from USYD DDMP to attend on the 18th of Jan. I am eligible for EAS Low-Socioeconomic region but was not eligible for MySydney because I did not complete high school here. My question is, since my rank is, supposedly, a 99.75, do I have a lower chance of getting an offer? And is getting second-round interview lowers the chances of getting an offer too?
I would appreciate it if you can direct me to a thread where USYD's interviews are discussed because I couldn't find one.
Afaik USyd place selection is all on the interview. Your rank 99.75 does not disadvantage.
I don't know the proportion of places USyd sets aside for round2 so can't say whether round2 = lower chances.

This thread on USyd interview is several years old but maybe helpful. Good luck

Hi, I'm from NZ taking Cambridge A levels, my results were released on the 10th of January where i received 4A*s which should be equivalent to 99.95 however I have not got an email for a USYD interview
I suggest you call USyd Med urgently. They might not have access to your NZ Cambridge results.

Any replies would be appreciated :))
I took NCEA so I knew I wouldn't get my interview offer until the very last minute since our results haven't come out yet, but that was unexpected for Cambridge students who already have their results. Hope we all get the emails asap :)

Do they have a specific number of places for interstate students? (I am asking because I studied overseas which equals interstate)

Hey, does anyone know when the bachelor of science and the doctor of medicine / bachelor of science and the doctor of dental interviews are released? Apparently there are two offer rounds, when are they?

It's usually 1 or 2 days before the NSW ATAR release date, since UAC lets the unis have the results in advance. It's why the USyd invitees know they got 99.95 before the official date.

The 2nd round I think is timed mainly for IB results, plus any states whose ATARs come out after NSW.

All the dates are on the course website under admissions - scroll all the way down
According to the UAC website, USYD DDMP has 2 assessment dates. Dec 19 and Jan 20.

I am a NSW school leaver and I have a question regarding which of these assessment dates I am likely to be part of.

I will have my IB results by Dec 16 (this is earlier than previous years) and assuming it converts to 99.95, will the conversion flow through fast enough for me to be included in the Dec 19 assessment? In the past IB students were always part of the second assessment due to how late IB results are released.

I also sat the SAT (Scholastic Aptitude Test) and attained results that should convert to 99.95, It has been received by UAC but it will only be used once they confirm completion of high school (via HSC or IB results). Again not sure whether I will be included in the Dec 19 assessment with this alternative qualification.

The website says " eligible candidates must attend the first assessment day after the release of their ATAR (or other secondary education qualification) results.

I am not confident these non HSC ATAR conversions will be made available in time for USYD to send out the assessment invites for the December round. Does anyone know more or should I just update in a couple of days time and let you know how I go?

It appears UAC sends ATAR results to the unis 1-2 days early. It has happened in the past USyd sent interview invites to applicants early, and these invitees knew they got 99.95 before the ATAR release date.

I won't be surprised if some will receive USyd invites today Tues 17th before official ATAR Wed 18th.
Whether you get one depends if your IB result got to UAC/USyd yesterday 16th. I think unlikely though.

The clause "eligible candidates must attend the first assessment day after the release of their ATAR" simply means you must apply this year, can't defer to the 2026 intake.

To add to what A1 said, you'll know if the results are in time if you get an invite to the assessment day for the 19th December.

Hi everyone, I just received an offer email from USYD from the DDMP, but it says:

“To ensure that you receive an offer, you should have already listed DDMP as your first preference within UAC by the close of preference deadline, 11:59pm, 18 December 2024. You will then receive an offer via UAC on Monday 23 December 2024 as part of UAC December Round 2 offer release.”

I’ve listed UNSW as my first pref and USYD as my second pref. Does this mean I won’t get an offer or will I still get the offer since UNSW med doesn’t release offers Dec round 2?

Your highest eligible preference no matter what order will be offered to you.

Adding to 2xq 's reply, the reason USyd says DDMP 1st pref like this is in case you have at higher pref a Bach of Something that's also released in the same round. Then it would take preference over your DDMP.

Hi everyone, I am a VIC student (99.65) that applied to USYD provisional entry on the 14th of December, (the 15th of December was the latest date to put Usyd DDMP on preferences to be considered), However I am eligible for the Regional and Remote Entry Scheme (that was only confirmed to me that I was on the 24th of December). This is because the notification dates for the schemes eligibility were the 6th of December (before my application) and the 24th of December (after Assessment Day 1 has lapsed). So my question is, will I still be called for assessment day 2 and be considered for the second round offers as I am a E12 applicant requiring only 99.5+ even though my ATAR was released before the assessment day 1 date.

I already answered you previously on this forum AND on r/UCAT as well. Do NOT expect that they will notify you HOWEVER in the off chance that you do, then great! I'm telling you now that there is no obligation for the Sydney Medical School and Faculty of Medicine and Health to invite you to the assessment day since this is NOT the first assessment day following the release of your final results.

Also E12 has been discontinued.

FYI change seen on website regarding SAT. It is no longer possible for onshore domestic students to use SAT if they have done a different secondary qualification.

A1 adds: I wish UNSW would make a public statement like this to clarify whether they accept SAT on top of an ATAR.

Hi all, do we have any information on what USYD's stance is on year 13 applicants? Are year 13 results are accepted or does USYD only allow year 12 applicants? Thanks!

USyd does not accept year 13 applicants. Only for the intake immediately after your ATAR is available.

(eg. If you got your ATAR as usual in Dec 2024 you are eligible for the 2025 intake. But if for some reason your ATAR was delayed until Jan 2025 after USyd had done the 2025 selection, then despite completing year 12 in 2024 you are eligible for 2026 intake).
