Interview Invites and Dates 2017-18

My sem 1 WAM was definitely 86 so not sure what that translates to for a GPA.

The rejection email also did have this line - " We did not have sufficient information with regards to your academic result: no result prediction was provided or we were unable to calculate your academic result (this is often the case for non-HSC applicants or applicants with tertiary education)." wonder how to interpret that

To get your GPA equivalent you need to use your individual subject grades for sem one as HD=7, D=6, C=5 and P=4 and then average them.

Hoping second round comes through!

You are actually a fair amount above the usual cutoffs, 99.5/6.75 needs around mid-80s %ile

You are the 2nd case of gap year clearly above usual cutoffs but no invite.
I now think UNSW banishes gap years to the Jan round (cause the system blindly says you have no predicted ATAR!)

Said I was above the cutoff for Nov/Dec rounds but if my ATAR is lower then I may not get a Jan invite.
Uni: UNSW
Predicted ATAR: 98.5-99
UMAT: 98th (199)
Special consideration: None
Applicant Type: Interstate

It's just a bit weird that other people with waaaaaay higher combinations seemed to get rejection emails- unless they're putting more weighting on UMAT this year or something? hope 2nd round interview invites clean that up cause that's just kinda unfair imo.

You're interstate though, so confident you're in a later round anyway

Can you quote for me those waaay higher combinations? I might need to amend the estimates table.

What's going on with these interviews?? I'm so confused.

Maybe this amendment to the Unsw website explains it.

Selection process
Applicants are offered a place in the Medicine program based on

  • academic rank,
  • UMAT score
  • and interview mark.
Using the above three parameters, all students are ranked. Applicants are selected based on the highest rank determined by all three measures. Scores will not be averaged, which means that a high score in one of the three components will not compensate for a low score in another.
