Now I'm home I keep thinking of better answers that alluded me at the time but I guess that's the nature of the beast.

Haha, thats exactly how I feel atm.

Haha and hello there Michael. 4 days down, and 13 anxious days to wait

Interview done.

It went well. Got some encouraging feedback from the interviewers. Now I'm home I keep thinking of better answers that alluded me at the time but I guess that's the nature of the beast.

Good luck with the waiting everyone.

FWIW - I saw the morning interview schedule today and noticed it was almost all ROMPE students with a few postgrads thrown in for good measure.

Done too...just been replaying all the bits I stuffed up in my head - urgh!!! Ahhhh well - relieved its over!! Good luck everyone!!! Now just the long stretch till the D day. Will prob see you all back here on the 23rd yea?? :P

Hey - I was just thinking for the sake of completeness of the grad info, did anyone with a low-mid 7's GPA get an interview this year? I am trying to collate GPA info for future grad applicants to Auckland. Or does anyone know of a friend with an interview and a GPA in that range?

Thnx.

PS - I like waiting for the results. At least the possibility of being accepted is still there. I don't want the whole thing to be over too soon!!!

Yup i am a grad and my GPA was 7.0 exactly... got an interview.. but it will take an absolute miracle for me to get offered a place as i am right at the bottom of the stack.

Hey, thanks for that. Do you happen to know anyone who got a rejection letter this year with the cut off for interviews advertised?

Hi all,
Does anyone have an idea about how the split for entry into med works - I just found on a UoA website that there are 191 domestic places in med for 2011, does anyone know how this is split between OLY1, grads, MAPAS and ROMPE?

Thanks!

From what I understand its up to 45 for MAPAS, 30 for ROMPE, and then the rest are split between OLY1 and grads, with grads getting 1/3 of the remaining seats and OLY1s getting 2/3.

I heard somewhere that it was 85 seats for OLY1, but just seeing how that adds up with the rest and it doesn't seem right

as much as first year students hate to admit it, that is about the right number of seats for non-ROMPE/non-MAPAS OLY1
190 seats (for the sake of calculating)
~45 MAPAS
~30 ROMPE

leaves 115 seats of which 2/3s are for undergrads. Roughly ~78 seats

Just looking at the above conversation, even though there are around 78 non MAPAS/non ROMPE OLY places, does the 2:1 interview ratio still apply? I.e. only around 160 non MAPAS/non ROMPE OLY are interviewed? Or is this ratio greater?

11 days to go

I heard there were 360 interviews and with 190 or so places thats about 2 interviews :1 place

ahhh yeah its such a long wait, i'm looking at SSO already lol

From what I know so far, they interview more than 2:1 for the sake of lowering the GPA cutoff. I also hear (quite a lot) that the number of MAPAS students that apply is slightly higher than the number of seats for them but no where near 2x the amount i.e they have a really good chance of getting in

It's worth mentioning that 191 was the number of students last year. My year has 205, and next year is supposed to have ~220. Also note that about 5 places or so are taken by students who fail 2nd year and have to repeat it

That number is partly dictated by the seating limit in the robb aye ?
Speaking of which... i wonder how they will fit the 2010 cohort into lewis... :/

Yup, the robb has 240 seats. But yea, 2011 will be pretty crowded for both of us. Lewis seems smaller, and kinda retarded lol. They just may have to put us in the robb again

I believe your year has about 200 students because of international students
