yeah that test was a whole lot better than the first one. MCQS for muscle were tricky, probably becuase the SAQ for it was pretty much a free 10 marks. Contraction cycle (yay) lol. I was all set for some epic length-tension/force-velocity graphing...

The proctors in my exam room were annoyingly lax; they told us the log value correction 2 minutes before the end of the exam. If my arithmetic was any slower, I would have missed out >_>

Lol i'm guessing you were in OGGB? Centinial theatre?
I was too :)

Oh me too lol...I remembered every diagram in that book
Although my diagram didn't look as nice on paper as it did in my head... :D

Good on the whole but I found the MCQ for muscle harder then previous years.

And yeah I'm a bit annoyed about the nernest equation question too...I spent more time on it then I should have because I kept thinking I was doing something wrong before they told us there was an error in the exam script!

Haha I just compeletly skipped that question! And then like mozzarella said our supervisors told us right at the end! Hopefully they'll give that to everyone though..
I was surprised that Cannel threw all the marks on one diagram/question... bit lazy before he left you think??

ah Srao92, must be nice feeling knowing you're going to get a GPA over 8.5 and being 'safe' lol. Well thanks for everyone's input anyway, looks like its postgrad entry for me at this point. Still, better get back to biosci101 and poplhlth study :s

I sure not going to get a GPA over 8.5!!! Unless God decides I've suffered enough this year and decides to cut me some slack :D
I'm actually fine with entering via post-grad..I've actually considered giving this year a skip and applying twice via post grad. It's mostly because I think emotionally i'd be in a far better place in a couple of years but also because my degree is really interesting and is really relavant to anyone who wants to work in the health sector

Nope, gen lib basement, but it must have affected everyone eh. Oh wells, no A+ for me, had to get 95 in that exam :(. But anyway, now time for the biggie, pop health.

This one is the main but kicker...its not so much memorizing but more understanding. Lol I shall be listening to my recordings while I sleep :D

How'd everyone find pop health? I found it went reasonably well :)

Just one more to go guys! Hang in there, we can do this :D Btw does anyone know how to fill in the phylogenetic tree on human evolution for past biosci101 exams? I had a look at lecture slides and still have NO IDEA whatsoever on how to go about doing it!! :S It seems important as it has come up for the last 3 years. Any help would be appreciated! Good luck for tomorrow guys!

Lol I haven't done that much writing since my NCEA externals!

It was okayish in my opinion, I don't really want to get ahead of myself and say it went well but I did manage to write a fair bit for each question. I just hope they can read my writing!

Good luck for 101.

Hey,what do you mean by applying twice via post grad?,if u meant wat u said(which im sure u did :))r v actually allowed to not apply in oly1 and apply twice as postgrad?how does that work out..u cmplete a degree and then apply twice in the same year?

They can't force you to apply for med in OLY1. Some people are actually doing biomed and health science just because they want to, not because its a pathway to medicine.
What I meant is that you can only apply to auckland uni medicine twice. So if your grades aren't so hot for OLY1 it'd be a waste of time applying then. What you can do instead is finish your degree, try and get a good GPA and apply for the 2 years after you finish ie if you finish in 2013 you apply for 2014 or 2015 intake.

Plus you could do some post-grad work if again you needed to increase your grades

EXAMS OVER !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (x9000)

Feels good to be on the net for the first time in like 2 weeks

And.........holidays.........................................

Hope everyone did well in their exams, I don't think they were too nasty this year maybe it's because of the A+ threshold increase? Although, I am a little worried about my core gpa after certain bad mid terms

Really enjoy the break! Are you doing umat this year or already done it?

Attempting umat again this year *sigh*

Want to try and get 90 this time around so that I might have a chance to go to aussie for med if things go south here-(hope it doesn't go that way)
Someone gave me some umat practice papers so might try those sometime.

I consider aus because I think my core gpa will only be around 8.25-8.5 (sort of realistically)
If there's people with 8.75 and 8.5 with interviews like 7/10 not getting in, 8.25 probably wont do the job unless the interview goes very well..

Ahh right fair enough. Yeah 90 should be sweet =) 89 just scraped me interviews with uws & unsw last year. I have some stuff that I haven't even looked at but mayyy be useful (?). I can flick it through to you if you wana pm me sometime

Hi guys. About auckland uni medicine entry..

Hi guys
I just finished my biomed exams today for sem1!!!!
and i was just wondering at if the 4 non core subjects are taken into account at all, assuming i did get over B+ in all of them.
I tried researching it and some say it matters while the others (most of them) say it doesn't as it lacks fairness towards healthscience subjects being easier/harder.

Does anyone have any idea?

thanks:lol:

Hmm, not thinking of sticking it out and finishing biomed?
Then reapplying for Auckland, Otago and Aus if need be?
