to be honest, Im much more in favour of the highly discriminative physics at auckland uni. Im guessing the long answer questions will include qualitative explanations alongside calculations. I havent checked the exam papers, and while they are just a few clicks away, i cant be bothered :P

Indeed, section A in the physics exam will have a mixture of explanation and calculation questions.
Section B looks just the same as the other tests we had before.

biochemistry is RIDICULOUS! if scott expects us to know all that sh*t then he's sadly mistaken. goddam this is supposed to be a stage 1 paper, who the hell thought it'd be funny to give students stuff that is barely understandable and then examine them on unrelated topics

!!!

on another note, medsci is going pretty awesome. Never have i enjoyed physiology this much since the days of biosci 107 :D

i remembered all of that then they asked me to draw some chemical structures from the Krebs cycle (1st half of the course)

it was only worth a couple of marks but still :(

look in the 2007 biosci106 exam papers
maybe they have a suprise for you this year :)

just saw the mark distribution for medsci test

god.dam

EDIT: Dam i hate it when lecutrers cram so much information in their lectures. why the hell are they even allowed to do that

Yoo guys! status update anyone?

I just went over the 2007 paper for biosci106 and was about to cry. Luckily i realised that 'metabolism 2' is no longer a part of our course, for a moment there i thought that i've been studying the wrong stuff all this time. Thanks for letting us know libby...

Medsci's going great tho, hope the MCQs are as easy as the ones on cecil, but yea im pretty much hating the everso concentrated reproduction and vision parts. how did they even manage to fit so much information in 50 minutes? and did anyone notice how messed up the male reproduction pdf is? its almost drowning with errors

MBChB guys? any easier on your end? :P

1. Are you guys just studying the topics in vision that she pointed out would be in the exam?

2. Have you got your last medsci lab marks back yet?

Not really...I have my cardiorespiratory exam on Saturday which has 104 teaching sessions in total (doesn't look like I'm going to be sleeping much...). So things don't really get any easier. I didn't believe it in first year but the work load definitely goes up...alot. But hey, theres none of the perform-or-die sort of pressure anymore.

Good luck man. I'd much rather extra workload and less pressure =D oh and willy, just learn everything to be safe. You never know what the second lecturer might wanna put into the test so yeah.

I'm learning everything in vision. It's not that much anyway... respiratory on the other hand...man i can't answer the SAQ even with my notes in front of me. Is anyone else finding it hard?

As for Biosci, i've completely given up. I'm aiming for like a 40% to get B+

Im with you for biosci, ill be lucky if i get an A- for that

I found the SAQs to be abit easy albiet confusing for the respiritory physiology. Dr. Quilter said that the A+ range in medsci is usually 84 or 85 but from the mark distribution of the test, i regret that i looks like its gonna be higher this time around

I can't believe the way ken scott's exam questions are structured, testing irrelevant bits from diagrams (08 first SAQ regarding purine ring...) instead of testing the main learning objectives. 10% based on one diagram he picks out randomly.. which doesnt even have a label telling informing you it is a purine ring. meh.

ignoring that, is medsci scaled? i heard they add marks

lol

Agreed. Random diagrams, the worst part is which random diagrams is he going to choose for our exams -_-....

How much do you guys need to get an A-?

Thankfully I just need about 46%..... lol and even that at this stage looks difficult :D

bASTARD! i need 58 for A- =( u must have done well in labs and first test. gahhhhhraegadlfrkealgrlagrlaegargearglarlegalrgal. Never thought trying to get 58 in a test would be stressing me out this much
