oh god, really?????? R u sure they dont make it fair across the whole class???? Cause there's someone realllly good at chem practicals in my group i.e. equivalent to olympiad level.

Calm down mate, I know you really wanna do med, but seriously, in a years time you will laugh at how insignificant getting a 3 instead of a 2 in your chem lab is - I did. So just try to chill out

Hi guys, just wondering what the MCQs for the first pop health test will be like. People tell me not to underestimate it but i dont really know how to study for pop health!

Fair comment ^_^ Thanks so much for your advice guys

Hi guys, just wondering what the MCQs for the first pop health test will be like. People tell me not to underestimate it but i dont really know how to study for pop health!

they put a huge focus on peerwise this year so try doing lots of those. Do the hardest ones that require the most amount of deduction/reasoning and they may be similar to what you'll get in first test. Get the definitions of prevalence/incidence etc very clear in your mind as well. You'll need to fully understand the concepts Rod mentions.

Not to scare you or anything, but I needed the entire hour to just finish the 14 MCQs that we had during the first pophlth test. All I can tell you is to move on whenever you finish a question and revise at the end (if you have time)

I have just been surfing through CECIL, and for the first lab of biosci 107 I have come across that the "weighted mark" is 0. compared to like 4 and 2.4 for other labs. What does this "weighted mark" actually mean? Could it be that no matter what you get in this lab its not taken into consideration :p

yeah make sure you know all the concepts well so dont waste time remembering them because its a pretty time limited test

Hey srry but what do u mean by 'don't waste time remembering them'? Also, I was told that the test actually gave you a lot of time i.e. there was not really any time pressure and you could think carefully about the questions. Is this true?

Cheers :)

I mean not wasting time in the test...waste time learning them outside the test ^_^ we had more time last year because like 5 minutes before the test started they took out 6 questions lol...and most people were still pushed for time.

Hey thanks everyone

Your comments helped a lot, I reckon I will get a 5 this time cos I made such stupid mistakes and my writing was everywhere:lol:

Oh well...from now on^_^

I'm finding pophealth hard lol, I can't believe it...

Oh well...from now on^_^

I remember saying that like 5 times for the chem labs (each time i get my previous lab results). Lol as long as you do bestchoice (3/20 is more than it seems), you should be fine. My worst screw up in the lab got me a 4, I think they're kind enough not to give 5s and 6s ^_^

Hey thanks :). Can you tell me what sort of questions were in the test? I.e. were there mathematic questions involving calculting ego/cgo, RR, RD NNT/NNH etc? Or was it more written based/logic style? Or was it just a whole context that required all of these processes to get a final conclusion/answer?

Thanks heaps

so guys a total of 30 questions for the poplhlth mcq. that's 16 more than last year. Surely they must make the questions easier to be able to finish that on time.

it used to be 30 when I did it
It could be easier, it could be the same, who knows?
they just recycle the questions from previous years hence,
they don't release the MCQs from past exams

they say we're not allowed to use calculators, were there many calculations in previous years?
