Bond Med 2018 Discussion

Hi all, first-time poster, graduate applicant - sat the psych tests for Bond awaiting interview response, yet also sitting GAMSAT this march.

Have a strange question.
If I managed to get an offer to Bond this year (unlikely but we'll run the hypothetical), and then got a decent Gamsat, would I be able to apply to all of the graduate entry med schools, and interview, while studying at bond this year? Has anyone heard of this? Would I be able to potentially get an offer and start at Griffith (for example) in 2019, while using Bond as a security blanket or would I not be allowed to?

Thanks in advance

There were a couple of students who transferred out to other med schools after first year. Not sure if they were post-grads.
You'd need to check with the GEMSAS med schools but I don't know of any prohibitions on transfer students. I'd check whether you will get credit for any study that you have already done at Bond and if not, consider whether this will this be an issue for you. But otherwise, the general advice seems to be make as many applications as you can and try to target med schools whose entry requirements play to your strengths.

Yes you are very much able to continue applying to other medschools through the GAMSAT pathway. Every year, there is a group of students leaving the Bond cohort due to med offers from other universities through this pathway. Good luck !
Hi B2,
I have the same feeling about UMAT as I missed many interview/offers by a small margin this time although I was offered an interview at UNSW. I plan to resit UMAT and bump up my score if possible. If I increase my score by another 15 at the least in UMAT total (approx 96%), I would possibly receive many interview calls. I do not know if I will get in at Bond as my ATAR 99.20 mean nothing this year due to the inception of psychometric testing this year which I believe is the deciding indicator to Interview offer. I would like to try UMAT once again before accepting offers from the UK in August 2018 if I don't get in at Bond. Would studying in Bond preclude a candidate from applying to other UAC, SATAC, VTAC and especially QTAC consortium? Can you advise, please?

Studying in Bond would make you a non-standard applicant and narrow down your options to just JCU, JMP, UNSW & WSU
> [Undergrad] - 2017-18 Med schools Selection Criteria Y12s & Non-standards

In addition, UNSW & WSU specifically exclude any applicants who are already studying med at another uni. With the Bond course restructured as BMedSc+MD you may be able to avoid this exclusion by saying Bond's first year is BMedSc not med.

Thanks a lot. That's great to know. My first option is to get into JMP and may try UTAS...not sure about UTAS's requirements! I will not apply to any of 7 year options having waited one year.

Congratulations to all that have received an interview invite so far, I am just curious if your QTAC has changed as mine is still pending and also if you're a graduate entry student?
