Bond Med 2018 Discussion

Thanks a lot. That's great to know. My first option is to get into JMP and may try UTAS...not sure about UTAS's requirements! I will not apply to any of 7 year options having waited one year.

As of 2018 applications, UTAS is not accepting non-standard applications to Med. If you start a degree anywhere (Bond or otherwise, with the sole exception being UTAS’s own BMedRes) you won’t be eligible.

"The final interview result is accumulated from the scores from all
stations. It is important to be aware that the interviewer does not select students for the Bond
Medical Program. However, as with the academic selection component, the interview result is one of
the factors considered in determining eligibility for an offer, and a minimum score for entry is
generally required."

Does this mean that our ATAR's and Psychometric Results will also play a role in selection? (Could also possibly be one out of the two)

Also, could it be that the order that people do interviews possibly indicate how well we did in the test? (Best at 26th to worst at 5th or vice versa). Im hoping one of the current students could have an insight on this.

yes i would be curious to know if the day you have your interview provides any indication of the likelihood of getting accepted!

So.. If im lucky enough to get in.. im kinda not able to pay straight away but have a plan to pay the non HECS debt money off soon enough...I was wondering if people have got info on the other student loans you can take out that are good? Or does everyone just have $30,000+ sitting in the bank already?
Thanks :)

Long time lurker here but finally posting because I have a bit to offer :,).

I'm a local and currently studying biomed (finished first year at griffith). I have an ATAR of 97.60 or IB 39 and a GPA of 6.85. However, although I've done one year of my undergraduate, I was not considered this because I took credits (obtained from doing HL Bio and Chem) for two of my first year courses in the second semester and instead did one second year subject (completed 7 subjects in total). According to QTAC when I called my selection rank was 97 for my secondary education and 94 for tertiary (it would be 99 if I completed 8 subjects), which put me at a huge disadvantage.

Fortunately, I was able to get an interview offer this time around despite having a lower Qtac selection rank?

TLDR

Interview offer on the 26th
- ATAR 97.60 or IB 39 --> QTAC selection rank of 97
- GPA 6.85 (7 subjects) --> according to QTAC selection rank of 94

Congratulations to everyone who has received an interview offer today all the best and hope to see you at bond!
I'd also like to thank everyone for being so helpful in this thread, I'll hopefully be able to return the favor in the near future.

Interviews have usually been arranged in order of state(Brisbane and Gold Coast being first, the rest of the states being together on particular days) and have nothing to do with the academic rankings.

I'm in the same boat as you cat777, was going to get the fee-help, qualify for the youth allowance and use the savings from working full time till starting and study part time (where possible) while studying as I have done in my undergrad so far and the rest family are willing to help support Would appreciate any advice people have on financing?

Remember that FEE help used in the undergraduate years requires you to pay a 25% interest when you return it. If you use FEE help in the final 2 years of the degree which is the postgraduate component, there is no interest owed and only have to return the amount borrowed.
