Bond Med 2018 Discussion

Mine obviously still says pending but under interview it has changed to ‘selected for interview but outcome not yet determined’

That's great. So no concerns for you as it will be decided after your interview. I am interested to know the status change in QTAC for those still waiting for the interview offers if more are going to be released today as one post pointed out.

Not yet. How about you if I may ask, please? Did your status change in the Interview section of QTAC?
Okay I called Qtac and mine also says 'not yet determined' which actually means pending. According to Qtac this means we are in the waiting line if anyone declines their interview offer. So I guess we are borderline.

Yes. I heard the same from QTAC. I called up Bond and noted that they had penciled in for 240 (not 250 !) invites and some had gone out yesterday (as we know) and more to come out today. I enquired about status change in Qtac to which Bond replied that there will be three status notifications, Selected for Interview, Declined and Not yet determined (Waiting list). I am not sure if any had received "Declined or Unsuccessful". Bond asked me to keep checking the QTAC site as the status could change because there was a glitch in the QTAC system last night which affected some notifications.:confused::confused:

Does that mean that yesterday all 240 invites were sent and we are the back up?

No. Only a few went out of the lot yesterday. A few more will go out today and finish on Wednesday. If what they say about our status is true, the interview offers could rollout for remaining places for another week as per Qtac.

As far as I am aware, the bulk of the invites have been sent. I have called QTAC and they have informed me that any “second-round” offers will be made by Wednesday. QTAC said that this consists of invites to fill the previously declined offers.

I agree with this! To be honest in reflection from past years Bond’s threads interview invitations continued releasing up until interviews. Let’s keep an eye out and remain calm!

Curiosity got the better of me and I spoke to Qtac to ask them specifically and they said that all 240 invites have been sent out and all pending are just back ups. But then again we have been getting mixed messages so I am not sure how accurate this is, where did you find out that all 240 were not sent out cnbas?

Ok got it. Thanks. If it's positive it provides another opportunity to have a crack at the interview if not, I will start planning and packing for the UK degree commencement in Sep 2018 (btw, that could save 200-250K for my parents :) compared to Bond). I will surely have another crack at UMAT before I board the flights. I found getting acceptance for Med program in the UK is much harder being International and then they need high UKCAT scores with SJT component and an ATAR greater than 99.00 with a focus on all science subjects (Chem, Bio, and Physics) in the HSC. Good luck to all.

I specifically asked the person at Bond if all the 240 have been sent out...he said they are rolling out continuously today and tomorrow as well. I am confused by your posting out of QTAC's statement. Who should we believe here? Anyway, let's keep calm as per Candycrush and face the situation as it unfolds. btw, what is the probability that one could interview offer from the waiting list? I do not have the statistics on this.

Just to confirm, for those who have received an interview, is selection based solely on the interview or?
Do you mean to ask "solely on the psychometric test?". I asked that question to Bond and the reply was Yes. That tells that those with high ATARs / GPAs are not considered for not meeting the benchmark set on Psychometric values...I do not know how they arrived at a benchmark figure and who did that. If it was done by a committee, then there will be a bias on their perceptions too. There is no clear solution here as many questioned the integrity of this peculiar test. It is sad that this cohort is caught into this jinx.

Wow! That’s a lot of money to save, not trying to talk you out of Bond or anything but this seems like a no brainer decision, given the digits $$$ we’re dealing with here.
Also out of curiosity if you don’t mind me asking, have you considered graduate entry?

No no, sorry, in terms of being offered a place, is that based solely of interview performance or is the academic results combined to the interview score?

Hi, yeah this was lingering in my mind for a while even during the application process for Bond. This was going to be the last stint in Australia as my parents wanted me to study here as we already got my elder bro out there doing his final year UK program MBBS (Hons). That was his decision to move out of the country to explore as he is very versatile with Comp applications and published a few apps in ios apple/ android google systems already for the UK universities as a Med student. He has got some nice (dangerous !!!) combinations of Medicine and App development capabilities. Surely he will settle in the US in the future. Not me.

Graduate entry??? I am 17 although I completed 5 subjects as a gifted and talented student (GAT) at the University arranged by my school from Year 8 onwards, Biological and Human sciences related courses. This helped in my admission process in the UK with a great recco from the university professor. Nothing of which worked here in Australia in Med admissions for me although I took all Science subjects, Extension English and Extension 2 Maths with a reasonably good ATAR of 99.20 (although not very high). I am happy to face whatever happens and content with what I have now. As previously said, UMAT is on my radar for this year as I missed JMP entry by one mark in Section 1 and did not make it in UNSW although I went for the interview. I should have concentrated more on UMAT than my Uni courses (GAT) and harder subjects in Y12. Maybe!!!

Unfortunately, my QTAC status has changed to "No - you were not selected for an interview." Looks like I'm not even on the waiting list :( I'm just going to have to apply again next year. Goodluck to all who got an interview offer! You'll smash it!
