Bond Med 2018 Discussion

Interviews have usually been arranged in order of state(Brisbane and Gold Coast being first, the rest of the states being together on particular days) and have nothing to do with the academic rankings.

I’m from Victoria and applied as an undergraduate but my interview is scheduled on the 26th

yes i know some gold coast people, and one brisbane person, who have theirs on the 26th, and then a friend and i from brisbane and ours is on the 5th! interesting... hopefully the later you arent doesnt mean the less chance

Well done on your interview acceptance. Are you from Queensland or interstate? Reason I am asking is to ascertain if only Queensland applicants were invited today or a mixture from other states.
Good luck to all those invited for interview as of today. Any info on the remaining (if any) that would be called re: Numbers and by State. Not sure if they have called on all the NSW candidates yet! They may have. When it was pointed out that interview offers will be rolled out for three days, does it mean it will be around 80 + per day or the bulk had gone out today. I am open to take the decision either way as I have a few confirmed offers from Newcastle Medicine (UK), Bristol and Southampton.

I am from victoria undergrad and got interview email today for 26/2 which probably will not take as taking offer of UQ provisional MD - rather started classes today

Hi, this is a Bond thread but your reply will be of interest to others too. Did you know of your UQ offer before you applied for Bond, or is it a recent UQ top-up offer?

I am from Canberra. I received an interview offer for 2nd March. Good luck everyone! Does anyone know the main difference between HECS and FEE-HELP? Is the FEE-HELP limit the amount of money you can loan annually or loan for the duration of your degree? Anyone considered doing the ADFA sponsorship for medicine?

can't answer HECS/FEE-HELP question, sorry... but i believe you cant get HECS at bond??
anyway, if i get a place i am definitely considering applying for the ADFA scholarship in year 3 or 4 of the degree :) however, not sure that bond is one of the uni's you can apply from since it is not government funded.
what about you ?

HECS means two things: your tuition fee for med is subsidised around 70% by the gov i.e. they pay the uni ~24k/year + you pay 11k/year, and you can put this 11k/year on a HECS-HELP loan.

Full-fee places not only get no subsidy but the uni can set at any amount they want. You can put it on FEE-HELP up to a maximum limit, around $100k in general but raised to $128k for medicine.

Is it true about ADF not accepting students from a private university for medicine? Cos I’ve always wanted to go into the ADF...

I had UQ offer from Jan main round. Initially i was thinking about BOND due to number of years ( less in BOND) and gave test as well. On second thought decided to stay at UQ due to high workload at Bond. I posted interview offer here as in last few posts somebody asked for location and dates of interview and thought might help.

As of 2018 applications, UTAS is not accepting non-standard applications to Med. If you start a degree anywhere (Bond or otherwise, with the sole exception being UTAS’s own BMedRes) you won’t be eligible.
Thanks. What happens in the case of "Gap Year" candidates who have not commenced studies in 2018 and apply for 2019 entry into UTAS, WSU and UQ (as non-current Y12).

1st wave was today. They said it will go up till Wednesday...
Has the status changed for those awaiting and for those offered Interview in QTAC?
Mine changed to "Status Not Yet Determined". I have no clue about what the intention of this is!
