Bond Bond Medicine: General Discussion

Congratulations to everyone who got in! Good luck to all those who re-apply next year!

I found that there is a 'Bond MD 2021' Facebook group!

I have requested to join and am waiting on the admin to add me.
This would be a great place for students commencing this year to get to know each other :)
Please request to join if you have accepted an offer for 2021!

Wouldn't it make more sense to name it 2025 since that's when we're graduating lol

Just got off the phone with QTAC about this overall ranking system. So it’s a score from 1-99.95 based on all the components (ATAR/GPA, psychometric and interview). The higher the score, the higher the chance of getting a second round offer. A score of 96 and below would not be considered for second round offers. I was able to check mine and I was told that I am 99.1. Can someone call to confirm this and check their rank?
This is not correct, sorry. The only rank that QTAC gives is the rank for psychometric testing. They do not know your Bond rank after interview offers have been sent.

yeah same that's what they told me - and just generic (I assume) stuff about how if your rank is high it places you in a good position to get an offer etc. and im like uh.....offers are out LOL
My understanding is that your performance in the interview places you in position for the potential small number of further offers including second round offers (if 1st round offers are not all accepted) and September intake top up places (not yet approved). There is no looking back at your ATAR or GPA or therefore QTAC rank at this stage.

yeah exactly! Idk why they mentioned it to me/us because I was like "Bond doesn't use our rank after interview" haha

Admissions staff are good at answering general inquires (high ATAR = good, like what happened here) but not so good at answering questions about specific courses, especially ones that are competitive or have many components for selection (interviews, tests, applications etc.).

do we think there'll be a September intake this year?
Look, there’s literally no way of knowing, we gotta wait and see I guess, I am also hoping for it, but not at the same time if you know what I mean, like I definitely would take it if I got in, but I don’t want to put much hope on it just because I don’t want to go through another emotional roller coaster of a rejection again. So, I’ll take it as a miracle if it happens. And just keep going with my course and possibly aim for future non-standard entry/or try postgrad Med.

I 100% agree with this. Just keep on moving and I guess if it does come, well there ya go : )

The last September intake was given due to COVID-19 after approval from the AMC . This time it depends on if the AMC believes it's necessary for another cohort. As the situation with COVID is different to what it was before & the overall impact is far less serious currently in Australia it's entirely possible they could reject it this time ,they also would consider internship places and allocation impacts due to the additional cohort. It's best to assume there will not be a September cohort and prepare for alternative plans so that you do not risk jeopardizing other avenues.

heyy guys!! Big congratulations to everyone that got in and best of luck to those waiting for second round offers or possible september intake :)) Im a current 2nd year med student at Bond and if you guys have any general questions about the lifestyle at Bond, accomodation, food, what a typical day looks like etc feel free to ask questions here (edited by mod) :)

Keen to meet the new cohort on campus next sem !
