Bond Bond Medicine: Psychometric Test and Interview Overview

Do you know if the test is invigilated? I know for 2021 entry they didn't invigilate, but there were rumours that it will be invigilated this year?
Hi,

Yes the test will be invigilated this year. On the frequently asked questions page (G. Psychometric testing), Bond stated that:

"Each candidate will be required to pay $291.50 inc. GST (this includes proctoring services, which means a real person will supervise your testing, in real time, via your webcam)"

What’s the best way to prepare for the psychometric test?
theres no real way to "prepare" for the psychometric test unfortunately. (content removed) Id suggest reading up on what the 2 components of the test involve and doing any practice questions you find plus talk to anyone you may know at Bond about their experience with it :))

Hi! I would be interested as well!

Hi, sorry i wasn't able to attend the webinar so i was wondering if you know if the psychometric test still involves both the emotional intelligence test and the personality test or has it changed? Also, is the actual test the same as previously (ie. the still show the faces and images and the test type and content is the same as previously) and that bond is just using another company for adminstration or has the actual test changed as well?

Thank you!!
In regards to the changes, i'm not sure, i hope it stays the same lol. but i've asked around as well but haven't received an answer??? :(

Hi Team,

Hope you all had an amazing Christmas and New Years holiday period. You have probably seen the original post on this thread that I wrote about a year ago regarding the psychometric and interview process.

With applications well underway, I thought it would be a good time to hop back on here and help out as a current 5th year, who has been assisting people for the last 4 years.

Feel free to msg me regarding any queries you may have.

Best of luck,
Bond 99 :)

Just wanted to follow up regarding the uncertainty people are having with the "new" psychometric test provider.

If people have not yet seen, there is a really good Q&A section for the psychometric test on Bond's official website, which hopefully answers some queries people may have. Especially question G19 - which the link takes you to TestGrid Link.

Link : Medical Program* frequently asked questions

G19. How do I prepare for psychometric testing?
The tests you will be asked to complete do not require any specific preparation. Our test provider has some general tips and advice on what to expect when completing psychometric testing which can be found here.

G20. Which tests will we be required to complete?
The tests include an emotional intelligence test and a personality test. The test provider will provide more information in their invitation email.

G21. How long should we spend on each test?
You will complete both tests in sequence in one sitting. Together, they will take about 1.5 hours to complete (30-45 mins for the emotional intelligence test and 45-60 mins for the personality test). You will be provided with a maximum time limit of 2 hours to complete both tests. The test provider will provide further instructions if you are invited to complete psychometric testing.

Hey everyone, for anyone who has gone through bond uni, can you please help me with the interview portion? Can you please give some examples of the questions they ask? Thank you.

Hi, they usually have 4 stations alongside 1 rest station. One station has questions pertaining to your motivations for becoming a doctor, where you'd see yourself in 10 years etc. One will be a station with an actor who's generally experiencing some type of hardship and you'll be assessed on your ability to display empathy (if they're crying, offer them tissues on the table). Another station will be based on ethics and how you'd handle situations like discovering your peers cheating on exams. The last is another general one so make sure you can describe times where you have shown empathy for others, leadership and be able to describe your strengths and weaknesses.

Hey! Im a current 3rd year at Bond and done the interviews twice and got in on my second try haha so I think I have a good understanding of what works and what doesn't.

There are essentially 4 "types" of questions
- an acting station with a scenario where you are a friend/colleague/stranger and you have the actor who is upset in some way (angry/crying- good to practice with friends/people from the forum as these actors can get VERY realistic)
- communication skills- testing your ability to explain the situation to examiner to be clear in what you are saying. Ability to give instructions , how you break down complex ideas into simple ones (how you would approach a difficult situation eg a worker who is your friend showing up to work intoxicated/ your team members arent contributing equally etc)
-ethical scenario- situations like cancer/ drug use etc
- personal question- personal qualities/ why you want to do medicine, strengths and weaknesses, knowledge of healthcare system / personal experiences in the system

My biggest tip after going through it twice is to NOT memorise. Practice in the mirror, with friends, strangers, WHOEVER is willing to help so you can loosen up and be able to be yourself on the day.
remember that the examiners may look scary, may question you again to put you on the right direction if you start answering incorrectly, may even have a facial expression that may make you anxious but at the end of the day, their intent is to see the best in you. Theyre not there to find flaws in you. Be original and yourself and bring good energy into the room via your body language (do hand gestures, dont fiddle with your hands, dont keep them under the table, in the acting station lean forward towards the actor to give sympathy etc).

Hope this helps but feel free to pm/post on here to get any more info about the interviews/prep process :))

Best of luck guys!! Hopefully we get to see most of you on campus soon :)

Does anyone know are we allowed to select the date and time for our psychometric testing which is between 8th-14th or is it assigned automatically by the administrator. Thank you.

From what I know based on previous years, you have that timeframe to finish it. So you could start whichever day suits you. However since it is proctored this time you may have assigned times/ be able to choose a "session".

So does that mean we can select any date between the 8th-14th but just not the specific hour in the day?
