CSU CSU Dentistry: Q&A and General Discussion

Hi everyone! I'm very new to this so just let me know if I've done something wrong :)

Well I've been following MSO CSU dental science threads for some time now (Hutchenson, you are very popular haha) and I feel the need to talk about it to people rather then just read all your post. I'm sure a lot of people do this (exhibit me), but I kind of feel like I'm taking someone for granted (even if I'm technically not) lol

Are there any other hopefuls who also applied for 2012 that are constantly thinking if your application was good enough? I know that this may sound a bit depressing (well maybe alot), but sometimes I can't sleep because I'm thinking about it too much! Maybe we can get a group of 2012 applications to share our experiences like the 2011 applicants did.

Hope to hear from you guys :)

P.S: If I'm in the wrong thread, please re-direct me. Thanks!

Hey has anyone here recieved back their self addresses envelope?
I'm just wondering when I'll get it if I sent my applications out last monday on the 26 September?
I got mine about two or three weeks ago. I sent my application quite early though because I was very prepared :) It took a bit over a week to be returned and I live and hour away from Orange.

@Hutcherson , rural applicants could get in on only 85 couldn't they? (5 additional point scheme offered by CSU)

Yup yup ^^

ATAR 90-99.95 is the range people have gotten in with.

Ok, thats good. I've been reading the uni info and theres nothing about second round interviews. Are there 2nd round interviews? If not, it means the application is of utmost importance, right?

What happens if you have been offered an interview and you do extremely well in it, and your predicted ATAR is 95 however you end up getting say.. 90 (city applicant)

would they still offer you a place even though your ATAR is much lower than predicted ATAR?

There are no second round interviews, so your application is very important.

In previous years students were offered a place afteer final results came out but last year offers came out before final results. If that is the case again this year then a strong interview with a predicted ATAR may help you :)

Thanks for all the info Hutcherson, you've been a great help. Another question i have is the move to Orange. I am more than happy to do it, in fact i used to live in the country. But do you know what the on campus facilities are like?

The facilities on campus are really good. You have your on-campus residentials, Banjos(cafeteria), Student Servives, Library (With a 24 hour study access area) and many buildings such as the dental building, pharmacy building and physio building. All have simulation clinics for that particular course and we also have a simulated hospital ward for nursing students from other csu campuses. Centre of town is only a few minutes a way. Quick drive to grab any food or anything else from town. 30,000 people live in orange and its a nice little uni campus :)

I still have not got a letter sent out to me..
I sent mine on the 28th of sept via express post, should I have gotten it by now?

Depends on where you live. The post in orange sometimes takes longer than usual to get things returned. I wouldn't try to worry to much. Dental school has been pretty busy at the moment due to examination period. If you are concerned just give them a call to see if they received your application.

Yeah I wouldn't be too worried. I received my letter early this week. When I called the school in the previous week they advised me that the final self-addressed letters were dispatched in Friday's Post ( 7th October) depending on where you live + it would be the slowest mail service, it could be a while

I'm worried. I still have not received my reply envelope yet. I checked my spam and nothing in there. I sent it on the 29th via registered post.
