CSU CSU Dentistry: Q&A and General Discussion

I'm worried. I still have not received my reply envelope yet. I checked my spam and nothing in there. I sent it on the 29th via registered post.

Check your email? I got an email instead of a letter. Don't worry too much! If it really bothers you, you can try ringing them? Good luck!

If you sent via registered mail you should be able to track the item. If it says Orange DC or something then it would have been received. Registered mail requires signature on delivery. But yeah check with the school just to be on the safe side

Hi!

Do any of you know if it's possible to submit an application now? I know it's SO late but I'm in NZ and I think it's a really big gamble to throw AT LEAST 20 000 away and go to Otago and try and fight it out for the 54 spots in Dentistry there. Least in Australia it's direct entry (at some Unis)

I think it is too late, I am sorry. You could try for 2013 entry next year.

Applications closed 30th September. Late submissions will not be accepted. Good luck for next year.

Hi. I lived in a rural area for 13 years and recently moved to Melbourne (from year 10 to study vce). I am classified as a rural in some universities and wrote in my letter to CSU about my rural status. Can you give me an indication if I will be considered rural and what atar rural applicants need for entry as I read somewhere that they get 5 extra points and can be considered with an 85?

Thanks a bunch!

You will be considered rural and need an ATAR of 90 (Including Bonus points).

If you are concerned, the best thing to do is to call CSU Dentistry Admissions at Orange. I am not sure why people still havent received the self addressed envelope. It is a busy time for the faculty at the moment, so there may be a hold up.

Did any of you get your offers earlier this week? According to a friend, they got theirs already.......I don't know whether they're telling the truth

I received my self addressed envelope finally! However it said on the back "late admission" and the received date was AFTER the 30th. But I sent it via registered post and I read that as long as you have the post marked on the 30th or before then it's ok. But now I'm worried, though wasn't expecting anything.

That sucks. Can you explain that to the admissions, or do they know?

I know JCU can have the envelope postmarked on the 30th or before but I was under the assumption that CSU applications need to arrive by the 30th. I sent mine 2 weeks before it was due just to make sure it wasn't late. When did you send it?

Unfortunately I think they may have disregarded your application :(

JCU allows for postmarking as it is stipulated on their supplementary however if you look at CSU Supplementary Application, it stipulates in bold

" This application must reach Charles Sturt University by the 30th September 2011 NO LATE APPLICATIONS WILL BE ACCEPTED"

Maybe call CSU and double check. Maybe if it was very very close and they were feeling nice they may have allowed it through ?

Good Luck :)

Well they're my friends' friend so it'll be a hassle to ask them to do so.

This is getting more and more suss. :p

Actually I sent mine on the 30th of September at around 5pm as I totally forgot about all my applications due to some other things going on. My CSU and JCU applications were sent together and I got the psot-office guy to stamp the front of it with the date (30th). Mine was still accepted and I received the self-addressed envelope 2 weeks later (7th). I thought they wouldn't accept it either as it said they had to have it BY the 30th but I guess since they had so many applications coming in, limited staff processing them and due to the slow post in Orange they must have accepted it as they had stamped it 4th of October (despite express post).
