[Undergrad] EAS/SCATS/UES/SEAS General Discussion and Enquiries

Just curious will we ever know the amount of adjustment factors/points are added on to our atar or do they just keep us in the dark

In general, I don’t think UAC even displays your selection rank so you won’t even know how many bonus points you get. In fact, I don’t even know if you get more points for say a lower ATAR than when you get a higher ATAR. Which is weird since other stuff like SATAC displays your final selection rank and Monash has an SEAS calculator.

On that note, I wonder if bonus points has a “diminishing returns” the higher your ATAR. It seems to be the case with Monash‘s SEAS calculator. Though I’m not sure if it’s the same with UAC.

Pinging A1 for clarification.

oh so for SATAC they tell you (applying through both UAC and SATAC)?

It depends on the scheme. UQ gives a straight 2 ATAR Rank points to LOTE/Maths C. UNSW iirc says they give from 1 to 3 ATAR bonus points depending on the categories of disadvantage. UWA/Curtin give no bonus, put them in a separate pool with its own place quota. So no diminishing returns with these unis.

It is diminishing with SATAC's 5 bonus aggregate points. From this table
> https://www.satac.edu.au/documents/aggregate_to_atar_conversion_table_2020.pdf
80.0agg = 94.0 , 80.0+5 = 98.0 : +4 ATAR points
84.2agg = 97.50 , 84.2+5 = 99.95 : +2.5 ATAR points

how would this work for interstate?

A1 replies: You mean how it works for interstate ATARs? SATAC will equate an interstate ATAR to an SA aggregate, add 5, then convert back to a boosted ATAR.

Hey guys,
I'm a UNSW 2nd year student, wanting to apply for med next year at either JMP, UNSW, or WSU. Would I be eligible to apply for the same EAS categories as school leavers or are these options no longer available for me?

WSU disregards EAS regardless of your school leaver status. I’m not sure about non-standards and EAS for JMP, but it definitely doesn’t count for UNSW, they use SCATS instead for non-standards.

Thanks for clarifying. Ahh ok, does SCATS increase you atar and/or ucat? Does SCATS have the effect on one's application as EAS?

for ues is it always 5 adjustment points added to the aggregate score or can it be less?
Applicable to the Adelaide/Flinders med/dent schools it's either 5 or no adjustment points.
SATAC UES also gives subject adj points (2pts per subject iirc) but they are not applicable for med.

anyone know about how long it takes for your UES application to be accepted/rejected?
Just let the process happen! :) Do things that are in your power rather than continue to worry about an application you've submitted.

Hey guys sorry if this question has already been answered before, but can you get adjustment points (e.g. UES, EAS) for doing IB? (asking for a friend). Thanks

No, UES or EAS is a whole separate category of special consideration irrelevant to what high school program you're undertaking. Your friend may apply for UES/EAS as an IB student, but this will be for things like income, difficulties etc., not for doing the program itself.

Thanks for the reply! Sorry I worded my question really bad haha! I was asking if IB students can also apply for UES and other adjustment points for income, difficulties. :p

In that case, yes they can! The same goes for any high school program outside of SA e.g. VCE, HSC etc.

Hi, my parents have been receiving the maximum allowance from family tax benefits and the JobKeeper payments and are also holders of a Health Care Card. I was just wondering if in case, we become ineligible for these payments from next month, does this mean that I will not be eligible for any of the equity payments?

Hi, how do I find out if my UES application for SATAC has been accepted and if it applies to Flinders? Also, my parents hold a Health Care Card, and I am listed as a dependent. So, do I put in the CRN listed at the top of the card or the number written beside my name?
