dw i got 2880 last yr and am doing 1st yr med at unsw haha
you got this!

+ yeah echoing what nb said :)
I thought the Ucat requirement for unsw would be higher, did you do really well in interviews and Atar. If you don't mind, could you tell me your ATAR

To be clear with the UNSW Gateway scheme. Assuming one fulfills all the criteria, is the 50th percentile and 91 selection rank considered as hurdles to the interview. Or a combination of all three will determine a place.

I don't think they will be hurdles. The website still says

"Interviews are offered based on your selection rank and UCAT ANZ overall score. Interviews are offered to applicants with the highest combined ranking in these two areas." and
"Applicants are ranked using these three selection criteria. Offers for study in the medicine program are offered to applicants with the highest rank determined by all measures."

Does anyone know about whether special entry scheme impacts UCAT or just ATAR/GPA? I.e, other than being a rural or indigenous student, are there any other entry pathways with lowered UCAT cutoff for non-school leavers who already have an undergrad degree? Sorry if this has already been asked, i'm still trying to read through as much of this site as possible

The one & only scheme with lower UCAT requirements that I know of is for GWS residents (both school leavers or non-standards) applying to WSU.

Sorry, and the Monash Guarantee scheme too but for school leavers only.

Thanks for the info.

Does anyone know if EAS applies for students doing VCE (Victoria equivalent of HSC)?

A quick google will give you the answer:

Who can apply?
To apply for EAS you must be able to demonstrate that your Year 11 and/or Year 12 studies (or equivalent) were negatively affected for a period of at least six months as a result of circumstances beyond your control or choosing.
You must also be:
  • a UAC undergraduate applicant
  • an Australian citizen, a New Zealand citizen or a permanent resident of Australia (including a holder of an Australian permanent resident humanitarian visa).”

Would all the different TACs consider COVID-19 disruption? I know VTAC has introduced its own specific catergory for that in its SEAS equity program. I also saw EAS for QTAC has a category for "educational disruption" and EAS for UAC has one for "disrupted schooling" where they state "distance education" but not specifically online learning and associated difficulties due to lockdown

Even if they did, I’d imagine for most states it would almost be blanket for all students and therefore not particularly useful, if that makes sense. If you’re from a school that’s had to do multiple additional lockdowns for deep cleaning after students have tested positive, there might be something additional, but I’d imagine most ‘concessions’ would need to be universally applied with the exception of parts of Vic.

ETA: the above is my opinion based on a Med application. If you’re applying for other courses that have hard and fast ATAR cut-offs and where you’re not necessarily competing against others for finite spots, then I could see it being a more useful endeavour.

Also worth pointing out that not all medical/dental schools take EAS into account - even though QTAC has that category it won't be accepted by Griffith/UQ/JCU for medicine or dentistry.
