Flinders Flinders Medicine: Provisional Entry General Discussion

When are late second/ third round offers usually released?
Second round is usually the SATAC February main round.
There's no formal third round, they are a few more top-up offers after any 2nd round recipients decline their offers.

Btw I am a non SA resident, how are they going to adjust my ATAR (im from qld)
Depends how you are eligible for the UES adjustment
> Adjustment factors – SATAC

- If it's school-based SATAC automatically adjusts (presumably they can check if an interstate school is eligible)
- If it's individual financial disadvantaged you need to make an application to SATAC.

I think around late December you can check in your SATAC application what your ATAR has been, or not been, adjusted to. If it's not what you expect call SATAC to inquire.

I rlly hope so. Btw you like Flinders? (Not related but..)

I'm pretty satisfied with Flinders. It's got its issues with inconsistent teaching and disconnect with the MDs but the opportunities its provided me in terms of employment, free time and other opportunities more than makes up for it.

LeSpicyGinger , A1 , you guys seem to be the expert regarding Flinders so I have a couple of questions, if you could answer them it would be of great help, thanks.

q1) I have an UCAT score 3110 + SJT 598 as well as most likely an ATAR of 99.2+ WITH UES, how likely do you think it is for me to get an offer from Flinders for the 1st round. I've seen the collated data from the last few years but tbh its a bit all over the place.

q2) I saw that last year some people received offers from flinders on December 24th instead of the main offer rounds in January, would you know why that is?

p.s. I'm an SA resident, dont think it makes a difference tho.

Many thanks!

If the 99.2+ is WITH the UES already included then it won't be enough for Flinders. You would need your ATAR WITH UES to be 99.90+ and probably 99.95.

It’s not with the UES included, I’m expecting a raw ATAR of around 99.2 at least (worst case hopefully). So with UES it would hit the 99.95 mark.

The offers came out on 21st Dec not only Flinders but also Adelaide Med & Dent. I presume that was SATAC main offer round last year, quite unusual since it's usually 10ish January.

Without taking SJT into consideration your 3110 95%ile would definitely get a 1st round offer. Your SJT is a little low but I think you have a good buffer from 3110 to compensate so you're looking good (don't go celebrate yet until it's in the bag though haha).

Hey,
Apologies if this question has already been answered, I am just a bit confused with some of the information.

I was wondering if Flinders Bachelor of Clinical sciences / doctor of medicine guarantees that you get into medicine, or if you have to sit gamsat / an interview / maintain a certain GPA.

Thank you 😊

Also, does Flinders count situational judgement in their UCAT score? If so, how would I get an indication of how competitive my score is?

Last question :), when are Flinders interstate offers released this year for medicine?

Hey, I'll answer your questions in the order you asked them:

  1. A minimum GPA is required to progress from the Clinical Science to the MD, you don't have to sit the GAMSAT or do an interview if you get the double degree offer.
  2. Flinders does count SJT, i don't know your score, so I cant really comment on how competitive it is but other people on this forum may be better informed to do so.
  3. Interstate and domestic offers are released together by Flinders, so that should be mid-January.

From this webpage > Study the Bachelor of Clinical Sciences, Doctor of Medicine - Flinders University
it appears the BClinSc + MD have been combined into a 6-year course for school leaver entrants. You need to pass each year to continue to the MD phase, that's even more guaranteed than other provisional offers where you have to meet the GPA to get MD.

If you get this score I'd suggest you go for UniAdeliade instead. They dont have a min GPA requirement to progress to the MD course while Flinders does.
