No interview email from UNSW till now, so assume that I have no chance for UNSW Medicine now, time to remove UNSW from my top preference in UAC for Jan 2019 round offers?

If you didn’t receive an interview invite for UNSW’s December interviews (typically due to being interstate), then you would not be in the running for a first round offer anyway as second round/interstate UNSW interviews are held after this date, with offers made in early Feb.

Has Curtin interview offers be given out for Victorian VCE students?
(interstate)
Thanks in advance.
We've had none reported, and I expect they won't be released until January for interstate applicants. They were released on January 12 for 2018 entry, so I imagine they will be released around that date for 2019 entry. Good luck!

Had called them earlier last week and the office said it would be released in first week of Jan ...which seems quite probable considering that second round of interviews are to be on 17&18jan (and 2nd round offers to be out on 22jan).

Excellent, thanks for letting us know!

Can I get an educated guess as to how good my interview would have to be for UNSW med with a 99.35 ATAR and 100 UMAT? Thanks

Hi!! Just wanted to ask something that's been bugging me for awhile; MedEntry and some of my friends have stated that UNSW has changed their acceptance formula so that the ATAR, UMAT and interview no longer has 1/3 weighting each for placement offer (i.e. a high ATAR/UMAT will no longer compensate for a low interview score) and it's apparently mostly on the interview now?? However, surfing through the posts on medstudentsonline, I've noticed that it's not a notion that seems to be echoed here and that instead there still seems to be equal weighting for the 3 components; can someone please clarify for a very confused individual?? Thank you and a Merry Christmas to you all :)

We believe it's still a combination of Atar Umat Interview in whatever proportions but definitely *not* mostly on the interview. UNSW said this from last year and last year's posted successful scores were still heavily skewed toward high Atar & Umat.

Ruffle gave a good explanation in this post > Quick Questions Thread #2: 2018

Hey I was wondering if in Monash MMI the follow-up questions are written along with the question STEM / scenario outside or if they are only revealed to us during the interview? Also, are we provided with pen+paper to write down any ideas and thoughts?

In that case, does that mean my ATAR of 99.35 and UMAT of 95 ranks me extremely low in both cases?? :(

99.35 and 95th%ile are both around middle of the pack so the change should not affect you. As explained in Ruffle's post it only affects the advantages that used to be given to 99.90-99.95 and 99-100%ile students; since if they had these they could bomb the interview and still get in.

Look at the UMAT score ladder; 95th=190, 98th=196, 99th=200, 100th could be up to 230-240. Since UNSW based it sort of linearly on this score you see how big an advantage an 100%ile used to get to compensate for a poor interview. Now it's just 1 rank better than 99%ile.

Approximately how many people are interviewed at UNSW each year? I just want to know what proportion are accepted (I am aware that there are 138 non-rural places this year). Thanks :)

Merry Christmas everyone! This year for UNSW, there are just over 300 non-rural interviews, with 138 given a place offer. The remaining 150 or so interview places are for rural, where 51 places will be offered.

Merry Christmas to you too! Were these numbers stated in the interview invite from UNSW?

Last year UNSW non-rural non-EAS invites saw 38 scores posted. The combos with a low component were
99.95, 84th%ile (172)
98.40, 99th%ile (206)

This year we see only 12 scores posted (albeit with no interstate yet), with
99.95, 90th%ile (180)
98.45, 100th%ile (219)

It appears substantially fewer were invited this year. The upside is with the same number of place offers they have higher chances getting one.
