General Interview Discussion and Questions 2020 Entry

Has any interstates received a UWA interview today? Their email a few weeks ago said they'd be out by today but they've already closed and I've got nothing and no one has said anything about it here. :/
I literally just got one 10 minutes ago! (from Tas)

I received an email from UWA saying that I was placed on the reserve list for an interview (yay). But what interested me was some of the marks that received an interview offer last year. Looking at the 2019 entry interview invites collated list, 2019 Entry Interview Invites - Collated someone with 99.00 ATAR and 55%ile UMAT received an invite and wasn't indicated as rural. I received 99.65 ATAR and a 86%ile UCAT but was put on reserve. Anyone know what the reason could be for such a drastic increase in the cutoffs?

It has been discussed before, but I am pretty sure that WA applicants have lower requirements than interstate (almost like how Vic students have lower requirements than interstate for monash) based on previous data. It is probably an agreement with the govt.

Oh okay, that definitely makes more sense!

Same I also got an email saying I was on the reserve list

UNSW might be doing things differently this year. The year I applied, the chance info was in the final interview email I received in Jan, inviting me to book a date (ie. I didn’t have to request it).

Also, I don’t recall previous applicants reporting a waitlist system.
This is for UWA i.e. University of Western Australia
Not UNSW

LMG ads:
Ah, crap, I combined a reply to the two posts, thinking they were about the same thing! Haha!!

In that case, sweatydancer, the reply is just for you re. chance info.

Hi .

Just want to find out if anyone from NZ got an interview invite ? NCEA results from NZQA are not released until the 15Jan. So wondering how will I get my ATAR or get invited if the results would come in late.
Hey I am an NCEA student and I got an interview offer for unsw even though I don’t know my official results so provided your actual ATAR and UCAT is good enough you should be fine! :)

They said in the email that they aren't averaging any scores so a good one doesn't remove a bad one. So I think that means that there will be a cutoff score in the interview (or a cut off percentile) it is really confusing how they aren't gonna average anything but they use them equally as selection criteria.

If you don't mind answering, did they mention that they use the ATAR/UCAT/Interview equally?

Actually it is not specifically stated that they are equally used in the email (although this has been the case for many years), so they could have switched it up this year just like having cutoffs for the atar and ucat scores

Awesome dude! Unfortunately my quest is over for UNSW. I got a rejection email already 😢. I tried calling UAC and NZQA but they can't or won't give me my ATAR results. Will we ever know our ATAR conversion?

Hi, when I did NCEA in 2018, I called NZQA after results came out to get my ATAR and they told me! Maybe they'll give you your ATAR if you call them after the 14th?

I emailed them a few weeks ago and they replied saying they added me to an email list of people who will be sent ATARs the same day as results so just ask them to do the same for you! :)
