General Interview Discussion and Questions 2020 Entry

if a offer is differed and taken a gap yr would this person be categorised as a school leaver for 2021. Should I contact UAC /QTAC for this information or university. When offers are given in 2020 for 2021 do they give priority to school leavers rather than gap yr students.
School leavers and Gap Year students are in the same pool for pretty much every undergraduate entry scheme as far as I'm aware, with the exception of UQ provisional medicine.

Crow adds: If one takes a gap year they become ineligible for UQ provisional entry med.

Thank you .

does it make a difference to the situation if an offer is accepted and differed .
I’m unsure of what your question is. Do you mean if you’ve deferred an offer for a different course or at a different university, will you still be classified as a school-leaver? If so, yes. You’ll always be classified as a school-leaver unless you have a tertiary record of study.

Hey Crow when you say "If one takes a gap year they become ineligible for UQ provisional entry med." does this mean that if you take a gap year you can't apply for UQ? Or that, provided you receive an offer, you can't defer it for a year and take a gap year.
Thanks!

You can defer an offer for a year after accepting it, but you can’t apply for UQ after you’ve taken a gap year.

Those who did the monash interview today - could you please share some info about the general experience etc. Thanks!

General experience posts are ok, but if a post could give ANY potentially unfair advantage to a late interviewee over an earlier one, it will be deleted immediately.

I am from NSW & applied for Griffith via QTAC. Does any one know if (& when) Griffith will invite candidates for interview (my UCAT is 98% & ATAR 99.85). Thanks

Griffith provisional entry does not do interviews, neither does UQ. An ATAR of 99.85 will be sufficient to get you an offer.

As Lyyrre has pointed out, Griffith doesn't interview candidates for their provisional entry program. I would point out that it is more than a little strange to be applying interstate for medical programs without even the most cursory knowledge of their admissions criteria.

Thanks Lyyrre, you are very kind in your response. I was a little confused but now realised that the info I read is for the graduate entry, not provisional entry (for school leavers). Thanks again and wish you a happy new year.

Hey guys - how many spots do they interview for interstate/uni students in the 16th/17th January round? Are there set numbers? tia

I don't think that they have a set number; just anyone who is over the cut-offs for UCAT and ATAR.

If this is about UNSW there's no set number, anyone above the ATAR+UCAT combo of the *lowest* offer-successful NSW student are invited.

Based on the number of seats in the interview waiting areas, in my year they interviewed 8 per timeslot and there were 10-12 slots for the day (can't remember exactly). So total around 80-100.

Hi .

Just want to find out if anyone from NZ got an interview invite ? NCEA results from NZQA are not released until the 15Jan. So wondering how will I get my ATAR or get invited if the results would come in late.
