Hi man, We were discussing your case and your tenacity for three years and really wanted you to get one up and start your score on the board. I am really happy that you got in for JMP interview. And, you asked me to sit tight and relax, Yes I got that too a few minutes ago. Thanks a lot, man. You are a source of inspiration for me. Mine is on 5 Dec 2018 and I am not sure if I will be able to request for a change. I have to schedule it along with my Adelaide interview as well. Let's see.

That's hilarious. Your poster is so natural. I feel sorry for the kid inside the egg, very creative. It's all 100% interview (MSA+PQA) assessment. I am not sure but PQA should be similar to SJT that is run in Bond or UKCAT (UCAT next year). Good Luck buddy.

This will be in the QTAC's main offer round (I think 16th Jan). On the day you first see an Offer code in your QTAC application status, followed by an offer email from UQ 1-2 hours later.

Curtin university selects candidates for interviews based on 60: 40 ATAR;UMAT. Please help with calculation , say if some one gets 99 ATAR and 160 RAW score in UMAT - how do they calculate 60:40 . Thanks in advance .

There are several methods of doing this- for example, we think UNSW might based it off of ranks, an explanation is here.

Your UMAT percentile would also matter more than your raw score, seeing as raw scores correlate to different percentiles each year, depending on how hard/easy the UMAT was that particular year. Using your UMAT percentile, which is out of 100, and your predicted ATAR, which is out of 99.95 (close enough), it is fairly easy for Curtin to then go (ATAR*0.60)+(UMAT*0.40) to figure out who to invite for interviews.

Unfortunately for us, we can't tell exactly what the cutoff is, but trawling through this thread may give you an indication of what sort of scores will receive an invite. Please note that these scores will vary from year to year, and that they also depend on factors such as rurality, EAS, etc.
It all depends on how you compare against other applicants as to whether you get an interview as well. (Universities can only interview a set number of people).

As Ruffle said there are several methods, two most common ones are by z-score or by ranks. Say they want to select 300 to interview out of 1000 applicants, they would rank the 1000 ATARs and the 1000 UMAT scores separately, sum the two ranks (with weightings) for each applicant then rank them again to pick the top 300.

The z-score method is more mathematical. Z-score is a number showing how many standard deviations your mark is above or below the mean (of the 1000 applicants). Using an exam paper as example, if the mean is 60 marks sdev=10 then 80 would have a z-score of +2; an exam at another uni mean=55 sdev=7.5 you only need 70 to get the same +2. So they calculate the z[ATAR] and z[UMAT] for each applicant, sum the two with weightings then rank them.

With the ranks method #1 is two ranks better than #3 and #2 is one rank better than #3, a ratio of two to one. With the z-score method, if their UMAT overall scores happen to be say 220-205-200 the ratio between #1 & #2 over #3 is four to one. Some schools like it this way (heavily favouring the 99.95s and the 100th%iles), some prefer the ranks method.

INFORMATION UPDATE FOR MONASH APPLICANTS

The following may already be known to some of you but has just been brought to our attention, which is why we've not mentioned it when people (gap year applicants specifically) have been asking for an evaluation of their chances of getting a Monash interview.

GAP YEAR STUDENTS: if you interviewed at Monash last year, while you are still able to submit an application to be considered again in 2019, you WILL NOT be invited to attend another interview and the interview score you achieved last year will be combined with your current ATAR and UMAT to determine whether you are competitive for an offer. As a result, we are unable to confirm what (if any) correspondence you are likely to receive from Monash. It is possible that the first correspondence you receive will be from VTAC with an offer.

2018 SCHOOL LEAVERS: if you receive an interview invite for Monash Medicine, under the current arrangement, this will be the ONLY interview you are ever invited to attend for Monash Medicine, and your result will be used for any subsequent Monash Medicine applications (ie. post a gap year or as a graduate applicant).

GRADUATE APPLICANTS: if you are a current BBioMed, BSci, BPharm, or BPhysio student at Monash who has applied to Monash Medicine via the graduate pathway for 2019 entry, AND you attended a Monash Medicine interview as a school leaver some years ago, we advise you to contact Monash Medicine to see whether you will need to sit an interview this year. It is possible this clause (given it only comes into place this year) will not be grandfathered to students who sat interviews in 2017 or earlier, but we don't know this for sure.

Has anyone received a jcu interview offer yet?? I know the official date is the 9th of November but last year most interviews were sent a day earlier to the official date.

Also does anyone know whether jcu med or jcu dent take into consideration the EAS adjustment factors?

No, and no. Medicine and dentistry are actually the only two courses that JCU doesn’t consider EAS bonuses for, IIRC.
