JCU 2017 Interview Offers Discussion

Never understood the JCU interview selection process. Does the interview offers come out for QLD local/rural students then rural interstate/interstateonly ?
Any ideas ?

As far as what we've seen so far on MSO, that is not the case. All the offers are sent at the same time whether you are interstate or not and not necessarily JUST rural either.

Thanks =). So I'm guessing JCU relies heavily on the content you've written on the written application, and somewhat small % amount of ATAR. As I've seen many times with candidates with mid or high 90 atar not get a interview offer. So got really curious at their selection process for interviews. =)

Yes, for the interview offers, they definitely weigh the application highly. However for place offers, it depends on rurality (if applicable), ATAR and your interview.

Hi, I am nursing student from Adelaide and at The University of Adelaide we had our results being released yesterday (1st December 2016). Therefore Im assuming that I was not offered the first interview round because Qtac would have not been able to obtain my annual results. Am i suppose to post my transcript to JCU or QTAC or will it be automatically obtained from the university??? Do we receive an interview offer by phone call or email?? And where can I contact to ask about interview offers??? And I am also very unclear about standard and non standard application???

QTAC will obtain your results from the university as necessary and pass them to JCU. You will be notified of interview offers via email, the same as everyone else.

You'll see interview offers come out here in the second round. Be patient and bear in mind that the vast majority of applicants will not get an interview; you may very well be in this vast majority.

Non-standard application is a category of applicants which includes people like yourself, people who have done tertiary study in addition to year 12. The criteria for interview for either category is the same and as has been quoted before is based on your marks and your application, including a determination of your rural background.

Can someone describe me the difference between JCU interview offer rounds? (1st/2nd)?

Last year 2nd round of interview offers were sent out on 29th Dec. The only difference I can see versus 1st round is most ATAR and uni results for the year will be known by that date, so I guess offers are made to those JCU did not have sufficient academic data to offer 1st round.

Hey mate, I think it could have been better and for me to sell myself more. Pretty nervous.
Been replaying it over in my head the last few days. haha

I was surprised how robotic it was once they went into interview phase. GP just read the questions with a poker face nothing else.
Overall the process was very well organized.

Hey guys,
Does anybody have any idea how many people were offered first round interviews - if so, would you also happen to know how many standard/non-standard students were offered interviews?

Cheers :)

Approximately 700-800 interview offers are given for first round and around 150 for second round. Out of the total 900 interviews or so that are offered, i think that around 150 are for non standards whilst the rest are for standards. Non standards have a higher chance for second round interviews as their GPAs are known by then.

Ummm! Hey! I was wondering if I still have chances at JCU with an ATAR of 96.35? I think I was predicted around 97, but unfortunately kinda screwed my exams up :( I'm from Victoria, non-rural and a standard applicant and have already had my interview!

You definitely have a chance! As long as you did really well on your interviews, you might have competitive enough score! :)

Hi can anyone tell me my chances for a 2nd round interview for med/a dent offer? I didnt get 1st round interview with school's prediction of 96, my real ATAR was 98.05 and I think my application was quite strong. Would my ATAR be high enough?
