JCU 2017 Interview Offers Discussion

Does anyone know how selection for interview works in terms of standard vs non-standard quotas? Like, do they assess non-standard applications in a separate pool, and therefore only select a small number because only a small number of places will be offered? Or Do they just pool all of the applications together and offer the top 700 interviews and think about quotas later?

Imo they would most likely asses standards and non standards in separate pools because theoretically, all 700 interviews could be standard or non-standard so that would not be helpful. Also, it just makes sense to invite less non-standards because less places are available.

What's the interview/place offer split? I.e how many interviews do they give out and how many offers?
There are roughly 170 spots including both standards and non standards and roughly 800 interview offers are sent. So your chances of getting a spot is the ratio of 1:4.7.

Received email offer last night! Non standard, non rural, NSW ! I was expecting something on Friday, so was quite disappointed, but elated when the offer came last night, 6 pm NSW time. Have BSc, GPA about 6.4 depending on how it is calculated. Just finished a yr post grad. Now f

(predicted ATAR): 99+
Non-rural:
- QLD + 30th november
What percentage of entries are interviewed and percentage of inteviewed get in?
And how should I prepare for the interview

Roughly 800 people are invited for an interview and there are about 170 places which includes both standards and non standards.

this might be a stupid question but how does 2nd round offers work ? are these spots basically remaining ones from round 1 ?
Second round is usually given to those who do not meet the ATAR requirement due to predicted ATAR being too low. When the actual ATARs come out and if they then meet the JCU criteria, they are sent an interview offer.

Not sure if this is an undergrad med page or the graduate med page somebody else made it! Let me know if you figure it out! I also don't know why the link is in weird letters

Hi all! I'm non-standard rural haven't heard anything as of yet, my final results don't come out until next week though so unsure whether it's even possible for me to get a first round interview offer (optimism), expecting a 6.25-6.75 GPA. The wait is killing me!!!

Yo guys, for the second round offers, when are they usually out? I know the interview are around in early jan, but I'm super upset/stressed by the fact that I didn't get an offer even tho my gpa is 7/7

Sorry to say that the first round interview offers have all been released. You may be in contention for the second round interview offers.

Second round interview offers come out around late december after the ATAR for all states have been released. It may be due to a weak application as i know many non standards with a 7 GPA therefore the application is the selling point for a non standard applicant. In saying that, you are still in contention for second round offers.

Hi.
Yes, I made it because a couple of members had asked for it.
It's for both undergrad or grad applicants (standard and non- standard) entry.

Just another way for people to keep in touch and be updated. Not sure why the link looks the way it does, but it works. :-)
