JCU 2017 Interview Offers Discussion

A person on another thread said that offers given last week had to be responded to by 12pm today. They probably need a couple of hours to sort through how many people are attending and therefore how many interview places they have available. hopefully everyone on this thread should be getting some good news in a few hours!!

JCU being one of the first to hold interviews, I personally think that almost all applicants who received their interviews last week would say yes and not reject....so the chances of others receiving interview offers today/tomorrow for first round (December interviews) would be less

I would say there will be a few because:
a) there are people who got local offers(in their own states) and don't want to attend jcu's interviews
b) there may be few who couldn't attend interview at JCU due to conflicts with their other interviews
c) I am sure there are very few who haven't seen their offers or forgot to reply by 12 noon today

So keep your fingers crossed.

To be honest, I think that JCU is out now. A bit pessimistic, but realistic as well.

Yeah I called JCU again. They receive roughly 4000 applicants and 800 receive interview offers, so yeah MSO is clearly not popular this year. First round offers should all be out by COB today.

Nothing :( I have heard previous applicants say that most non standards get second round interview offers. But when I called admissions to see if that rumour is true, I was told that second round is normally for those who have withheld results, and I know that uni results normally come out in December, so it makes sense. It makes people like me, who have finished their tertiary studies worry if it's possible to get second round interviews. Thoughts??

I applied last year as a non-standard and was interviewed in Janurary, in the second round. All the other applicants in the interview waiting room with me were also non-standards.

Not only this^ looks like JCU has not taken much of the Rurality index into consideration unlike previous years. Current count in the Official Results thread is 15 non-rurals vs 5 rurals.

With previous intakes around 20% non-rural, 20% RA2 and 60% RA3-5 it is odd that JCU is interviewing three times number of applicants for one-fifth of the places.

I found this when going through my emails - it was sent to me in October when I enquired to JCU about rural and non-standard applications

'The assessment process for MBBS [at JCU] does not distinguish between, or reserve positions for, rural and urban students. Applicants will be assessed fairly through a merit based system regardless of where they reside. This is also true for the first round of interviews; all applicants will be considered for interviews at the same time.'
