JMP JMP: General Entry Discussion

That's what I'd like to know lol. All I know is this time last year I had gotten my rejection email already. The lack of one at the moment is the shred of hope I'm clinging onto for now.
What was your UCAT score this year?

Cause there are 94 percentiles that have received an invite and the in-state/rural/interstate distribution rules from last year don't seem to apply this year either, because everything is all over the place.

It seems like all invites haven't been received yet, especially if multiple people with a lower percentile than you have received invites?

Tbh I think they are still sending out interviews. My friend got an invite with 95th earlier today too.

Mentioned above, 95th percentile (3080).

I pray that ur right.

What did you guys end up saying for the reason for your interview date change and did you guys mention if you wanted it to be delayed or brought earlier?

hello! was hoping someone could help! i know they said interviewees of the 2nd, january round "aren't disadvantaged" but is that actually the case? aren't there less spots available after the nov/dec round? Or do they leave 50% of spots left for interstate-nonrural interviews?

The first offer round for JMP this year is 26th of jan after both interstate and local have been interviewed no requirement for JMP to set aside places as non will have been offered yet the only reason interviews are later for interstates is so they can accept an offer from their own state first and not waste peoples time by interviewing

Oh! So if i'm a SA applicant, there wouldn't be any difference in my chances if I go for the Nov/Dec round OR Jan round !

i always thought there'd be places reserved for rural , Indigenous and the BioMed pathway applicants - and that the remaining would be preferred NSW/QLD applicants - leaving interstate applicants with a small number of spots available hhehe - thanks for clearing that up!

There is a set number of place offers reserved for Rural/indigenous pathway applicants but no guarantees for anyone else (if we are going of previous years)

additionally the b of biomed at UON has a number of guaranteed interviews however they don’t have set place offers set aside for them as far as I am aware…

This hasn't been confirmed yet. Others reported that JMP said that invites were still to be released next week.
I am rural and have received an invite, as far as I am aware JMP have never staggered invites this can be shown as everyone who received an invite from UON received it at the same time and everyone who got one from UNE also received it at the same time. The likelihood is bar invites being completely messed up they all have been released I think giving people false hope by relying on an outdated piece of information isn’t a smart move.

I'm just going by what JMP themselves have said and I would tend to believe them more than someone on a forum board. 🤷

Unless I am mistaken, you are talking about JMP saying that invites will be released next week BEFORE invites were released.

If someone has contacted JMP since invites have been released and they both acknowledged invites had been sent and that more rounds are to come or they are staggering the release this year then disregard everything I said above.

However, JMP has never done this before and they have never offered top up invites from my knowledge before because they tend to over invite on the first round rather than offer the exact amount and fill cancelations.

Additionally, if you are indeed going on the information that was received BEFORE invites go out I would caution anyone else from thinking the same as unfortunately this is likely not the case. There have been several rural offers reported here on MSO and it makes no sense that JMP would stager the invites as it is so close to the interview date so they would be trying to get everyone information on their session ASAP so they can sort clashes and other issues.

Did you hear this directly from JMP admissions yourself? Your initial reply indicates you heard it indirectly from someone on a forum board.

In my experience of observing admissions processes since 2016, JMP have never staggered interview invites within groups or issued top ups. We can only give (educated and historically informed) speculation here at MSO, and that has been the pattern for this particular question. I’m going to go have a quick look at the collated data to make sure it looks suitably ‘spread out’. BRB.

ETA: I’ve checked the data and done a comparison with 2021 entry for completeness. 2021 entry saw 15 rural students report invites on the day they were released plus a few days after as they made their way to MSO (not everyone posts here immediately, which is hard to fathom! Haha!). So far, we have already had 12 rural interview invites reported for 2022 entry only a day after release, so it seems pretty consistent to me, tbh.

ETA2: I’ve just had another look (coz what better things do I have to do on a Friday night?!); invites have been reported across RA2-RA5, and from Vic, NSW, WA, and Qld so I think the spread is there too.

This is really all we can do with the data.
