Hi guys, I’m a current La Trobe student and wanting to do an internal transfer into bachelor of dental science. I haven’t received anything for this round offer, is it because the exam results have not been released and therefore cannot determine my final WAM or because I didn’t have a good wam (~91.50)?

In previous years, there were internal transfer applicants who received offers in November but most students received their offers in January.

91.50 is a very good wam but the internal transfer pathway is very competitive. To put things into perspective, Latrobe dent admits 50-55 student every year. About 30 of those students have rural background and 5-10 of them are international students. This leaves 15-20 places for metropolitan applicants. According to VTAC, there are 1100 metro applicants this year and 500 of them have latrobe dent as their first preference, so only 1 in 50-75 metro applicants will receive an offer.

Are you a rural or metro applicant?

I assumed it will be on January round, as most of semester 2 results have not been released as of yet. Unfortunately, I’m metro applicant 🥲. As you put it into perspective, it is highly unlikely I will get an offer, if they are picking 1 student from every ~75 applicant.

yeah, unfortunately, the odds are stacked against you if you're a metro student. The unis receive more fundings from the government for admitting rural students.

The wam cut-off for internal transfers used to be in the high 80s and there were around 5 places offered to internal transfers applicants each year. However, in 2021, they only made one offer to internal transfer applicants and that person had a wam of 93.12. In 2022, according to protein pop who received an offer, Latrobe once again admitted 5 students internally. Thus it is anyone's guess what the WAM cut off will be this year and how many internal transfers they will approve. However, the admissions team told tdnii that they are removing the UCAT requirement for all non-standard applicants this year so I expect the competition to get more intense.

Where is this information?
Just google VTAC statistics 2023. They took down the stats a few days ago but I expect them to put the stats back soon. Here are the stats from last year:

I think we r expecting less perfect IB so cut off should be lower
I'm not so sure about that. Last year there were 1000 metro applicants and 440 of them had latrobe dent as their first preference. Both of these numbers have increased this year and they are removing the ucat requirement for all non-standard students. I'll not be surprised if they are also allocating more places to international students. I think UQ has something like 15 domestic students and 40 international students.

Hello. I don't usually post on anxiety provoking sites like this one. I have received an offer (17th Nov) and enrolled for Latrobe dentistry. I took a gap year so don't stress, I think that played a part in my early offer.
Good luck everyone!
Congrats!! Did you repeat year 12 or? Is this year your gap year?

Is anyone else having difficulty enrolling? I can't get past the 'Plan and Enrol' step as no subjects are loading. Can anyone help?[MedStudentsOnline.com.au] La Trobe Dentistry: General Discussion

Hi guys,
Do non-standard applicants from NSW typically get an offer in the November 18 round (please let me know if you have received an offer and you are a non-standard from NSW) or are those offers generally reserved for the main offer round in January?

I spoke to the admission team and they said that applicants are admitted based on their academic performance. So if you haven’t completed your degree and still waiting for second semester results to come out, you will be considered for January round. However, if you have completed your degree I assume it will be on November 18.

That makes sense, i havent completed my degree so the January offer round is probably more appropriate.
