85 might be the unadjusted rank and 99 might be the adjusted rank.
If 85 is guaranteed, then there would be no point in creating an adjusted rank, especially not only 99.00 when the cut off was 99.2 for non rural. At the very least it makes sense to match it.
Also do u mind if i ask about how you transferred and the course you did etc as I am looking to alternate pathways? Thank you.

Some universities do not adjust uniformly for rurality (JCU Med and Dent, UNSW, and UTAS off the top of my head), with those who have spent longer in a more rural location granted more adjustments than someone who was less rural or rural for a shorter period of time. If LaTrobe do this (I actually have no idea one way or the other), it may necessitate creating a separate adjusted rank.

Seperate adjusted rank I understand but why different cut off ?

For rural and non-rural? Unless I’m misunderstanding, this is also quite common across other degrees. For example, JMP have a UCAT cut off and ATAR requirement for rural applicants that is lower than for non-rural applicants (just to name one).

- 1 cut off applies to non-rural applicants
- The second applies to rural applicants (who are separated out and possibly have individual adjustments based on rurality)

I don't really know. Your best bet is to contact the uni directly.

Latrobe says that it doesn't matter which course you study. However, it seems like most applicants studied the bachelor of health science. Another user on this forum had a lower WAM but received an offer about two months before I did. According to him, the admissions team prefers candidates who:

1) complete 8 subjects within one calendar year (ie: full study load)
2) have no transferred subjects

However, I have to say that these are just speculations. No one really knows how Latrobe select internal and external transfer applicants.

Did you do the UKAT and are you confident with dent/med interviews?

Thank you for the reply
I understand from your other post that you only did a few single subjects and made both Griffith and la Trobe. How does this work fling finding a gpa if you are completing less than one calendar year and what was your pathway? I noticed that you put NA for ucat for la Trobe even though I thought non school leavers required ucat. How does this work
Personally I did not attain a competitive ucat and haven’t had the chance to be interviewed

No, I completed 8 subjects, but I completed the first 3 subjects before I was enrolled in a degree. When you study uni subjects without enrolling in a bachelor degree, it is known as single subject studies. I later received credits for them.

I'm a Latrobe student and I applied for internal transfer. UCAT is only a requirement for external students.

Congrats! Well deserved.

Yeah I'd say your delayed internal transfer was definitely due to them taking longer to evaluate your single studies subjects, though with a wam like that they'd be very remiss not to enable you entry. I and a few others I know received our internal transfer offers late November probably because ours were easier to calculate (as our studies were just Sem 1 and Sem 2)

Yes, so it is more ideal to:
-have no no transferred subjects
-studied four subjects a semester, two semesters in a single calendar year
-coming from the bachelor of health science (However, many users on this forum would advice you against doing a degree for the sake of getting into dentistry/medicine)

I was wondering why i did not receive an offer to la trobe with an atar of 99.6 if the cut off was 99.2? is it because i received my atar on the 3rd of jan (i am an ib applicant who is studying in australia, also australia citizen)?

Did you put it down as your first preference?

Are you a Victorian applicant? I think they released offers to Victorian applicants on the 15th of Dec.
ohhh!!!! im a south aussie applicant so thats why! is it just la trobe that sends interstate offers out late? or is it the whole of vtac because i did receive an offer for oral health in melbourne.

I think offers for south Australia applicants were released on Wednesday (15/01). You should contact the uni.

Hi, I just found this document on VTAC's website:

99.00 is the cut-off for regional entry and 99.20 is the cut-off for metro applicants. 99.15 is just below the cut-off.
Received a call back from them and they said that they preferenced those who placed la trobe as first preference? seems weird to me as I thought they would do it by whoever was more competitive (so atar) but apparently not. I'll be moving la trobe up as my first preference then.

Course Type: Dent
Offer Received: Yes
University: Latrobe
UCAT: N/A
WAM: around 96
Special Considerations: N/A
Offer Type: CSP
Other Information: internal transfer
Congrats on such an amazing wam!! Was just wondering, as a 1st latrobe student also wanting to study dentistry in 2021, is the UCAT required for internal transfers? I’m so confused as on the latrobe website, it says that for non highschool applicants, the UCAT is required?
