Med and Dent - 2019 Entry (Offers)

Hi, congrats on your offer. Just wondering, are you a WA resident or interstate applicant?

WA resident or interstate?

Both these two posters received their offers in December, before the interstate interview round so they must be WA applicants.

Btw how confirmed is your ATAR 99.95, did that come from NZQA?

Has anyone received a Flinders offer?
I'm very surprised that I have a friend with 99.95 atar and 97 umat that received no offer from Flinders or Adelaide

Wow thats very surprising! I got one with 99.95 atar and 69%tile umat - interstate. Do you know much about the uni? Is it good?

SATAC person confirmed it when I called, and I also received interview offers from USYd where their cutoff is 99.95 so I didn't bother with nzqa.

Not all the TACs/Unis use the same conversion for overseas qualifications. I am not sure how UWA does so this is conjecture only - it's possible UWA has only given you 99.0 and that with 69th%ile would not be enough to get an interview.

The reason I suspect only 99.0 is from this webpage
> See if your previously obtained qualifications can make you eligble to apply to UWA.

although NCEA is not listed, all the links there show UWA only gives up to 99.0 max.

Hello,
What’s the probability that Griffith (or USC) sends offers in the second round?
My atar is enough for both but my updated results weren’t updated in time for the first round.
Wondering if there’s a high likelihood that they have spare spaces and send out new offers.
Thanks.

Traditionally there have been top-up offers to a few 0.05 or even 0.10 lower than the published ATAR cutoffs. I suggest you call Griffith Med (not General Admissions) to sort of register your interest to make sure they don't overlook you for these.

Many top-up offers don't come out in a TAC offer round. The school just calls when it's convenient for them, and sometimes they call local applicants first. If you are interstate thus the need to ask them to remember of you.

You have a good chance of getting Griffith. I am confident to predict 100% chance if QTAC has the updated ATAR and is 99.75 and above. Make sure QTAC has your updated ATAR on file. You need to call them to make sure that they have as they are slow to get updates from IBO or other exam centres. If you call, they can manually update. Call everyday if you have to till they confirm that they have your updated ATAR. As USC quota is 22, there is less chance there as last year, for top up round, ATAR actually went up! Only one person deferred and because of similar situation like yourself (late exam results), the topup round atar went up! With Griffith, ATAR will go down from 1st round by a tiny amount. Good Luck

ATAR or GPA: 99.70 (IB 43)

Other Information: I actually preferred the Gold Coast, and was wondering if anyone can provide insight on switching campuses before commencing? I've heard that quite a few students transfer to the GC after their first year, but I was hoping to do it earlier if possible. I've called GU already and they have just advised me to change preferences on QTAC and wait for the second round, but since they only have unofficial top up offers... I don't know if that's the most effective action I should take and simple just wait?

Otherwise, sincere congratulations everyone on their offers today (and the past couple days) and I am over the moon to commence such an exciting journey with you all! For those still waiting, crossing my fingers for you all (because I know how horrible the waiting game is). All the best :)
This is possible. Every year two to three students transfer between the campuses. I am not sure how they do it but I assume you need to talk to the course convener and tell them your interest in transferring and they may be able to make this happen.

how many people have gotten late round offers for universities like wsu and JMP? do they come out during offer rounds or just randomly whenever? I guess I'm just so bummed out about missing out and having to restart with ucat congrats to everyone getting offers!

WSU tend to participate in the first Feb UAC round (and then probably phone calls from there), however this is not typically the case for JMP who make subsequent offers by phone and are therefore a little less predictable with dates. Both do make additional offers, however.

A bit of a heads up, the une FB group only has roughtly 45 members (even less freshers) and given that une tends to usually have around 60 students, there are still some offers left to give.

Keep in mind that no non-rural interstate students will have received their offers yet, as they only interviewed this week.

I emailed WSU and UoN

WSU said theyll be making offers through tomorrows round if they have any offers to make.

UoN said they dont expect to make any more offers but if they do end up then itll be via phone call.

Just to head off panic from interstate JMP applicants, UoN seem to always say this for some reason, despite the fact that they only interviewed interstate students this week and will clearly and absolutely be making more offers! The fact that it'll be via phone call fits with previous years. Also, last year at least, a local applicant received a late phone call offer, indicating that if interstate applicant interview scores fall below the local offer cut-off with spots still remaining, interviewees from all rounds are 'back in the game', so to speak.

Re. WSU, I mentioned they'd be participating in the first Feb round, but Med3's report that they'll be making more offers in tomorrow's UAC round makes sense for this year, as they conducted all interviews in late 2018, which differs to their processes from previous years.

Good luck to those who are waiting!

Uhh, I got no offer again from Adelaide with an ATAR of 99.70 and UMAT score in the 96%ile. How many applicants get a 3rd round offer? How good would my interview have to have been to get in?

Hey,
Thanks so much for your reply.
I received an ATAR of 99.7 and both Griffith and USC have emailed me back and stated that this is enough for their medicine courses.
Would you consider this ATAR to be competitive to receive an offer?
