Med and Dent - 2019 Entry (Offers)

I honestly don't see how they could have an ATAR cutoff but then pick and choose between which applicants with that ATAR actually get an offer.

I think they would need to incorporate a method to deal with this scenario. For example say 16 spots out of 20 have been offered to 99.65+, then there are 20 applicants on 99.60 vying for the remaining 4 spots. Do you think they would (a) make only 16 offers or (b) over-offer 36 spots or (c) have a way to differentiate the 20x 99.60s?

Looks like from Jayel's enquiry that if they don't completely fill all spots (with only a few remaining) they may just carry those over to next years intake. It would be near impossible to differentiate between applicants with the same score, especially with interstate applicants.

This isn't quite feasible in the same way that UQ's method is because the Griffith provisional pathway requires their provisional students to take a specific exclusive degree (so these spots need to be filled as well) - UQ on the other hand allows provisionals to do any degree, so they can just throw their extra spots into the grad entry pathway.

does anyone know if Adelaide is still offering Med places (CSP) in offer rounds

I would imagine offers are now largely going to be top ups. These are typically done via phone so that they can be completed more efficiently (and usually in comparatively small numbers).

Some universities may still make use of formal offer rounds via TACs to send out top ups, but probably only into early Feb.

Best of luck to those still waiting.

ETA: Dr.Potato got a late-ish offer to UAdel last year. I’ll check whether it was via SATAC and report back.

ETA2: Dr.Potato received an offer via SATAC in what’s presumed to be round three last year (ie. after the first two rounds), so SATAC rounds are probably still in play for UAdel.

Hey,
Does anyone know if Griffith medicine usually give out top-up offers?
If I received the same atar as a friend and they got into Griffith medicine but I did not, would it be worth calling Griffith to hopefully allow me to enter the course also?

Definitely call them up to confirm, there is no harm in doing so. The ATAR cutoff for Griffith Gold Coast Campus (99.75) and Griffith Nathan Campus (99.70) is different so perhaps consider whether that's the reason only one of you received an offer. What was your ATAR?

Hey I am the friend he is referring to, I got a first round offer at Nathan with 99.7 but his atar had not been updated in time for first round offers. He went from a 99.4 to 99.7 which was updated for second round offers, where he got a usc med offer but not a Griffith med at Nathan. I thought this was strange as i read somewhere if you were over a threshold you would automatically get in

That's unusual. However, it is possible that due to there being limited positions for the second round offers (mostly from first round rejections) the ATAR cutoff was possibly higher on the second round (I can't confirm this). Nonetheless, he should contact the university and confirm that they received the right ATAR (one of my friends didn't receive an interview for UNSW for an IB score of 43 at first, but it turns out the university received his old score of 42 and they immediately offered him an interview over the phone, he proceeded to receive an offer from UNSW afterwards). So definitely call Griffith up, it is possible that they have received an un-updated ATAR.

Congrats on your offer! My friend in QLD also got an offer from UWA, will you be accepting?

I was just upgraded from bonded to unbonded for Adelaide med, but I can't help but think it's a mistake. I only received a second round offer in the first place (Jan 24th). Has anyone else ever had their second round BMP offer changed to unbonded?

Hi medtastic,
Doubt it’s a mistake! Yesterday I rejected my unbonded adelaide offer for unsw so maybe that’s why ur offer got changed. Congrats :)

I guess it just means that a lot of people who were ahead of you (i.e. people who got first round offers and those who got second round offers but were still ranked higher than you) declined their offer since the 24th. Right? Congrats too!

Just checking if there is hope UMAT 183/92% / ATAR 99.70 / Interviewer said I done well @ ADELAIDE..
Still haven't received an offer 3rd round now..
I wonder being a NZer makes me disadvantaged..

As a Kiwi, I don’t believe you’re able to receive a BMP which does disadvantage you as it rules you out of 28ish% of the offers available.

Your UMAT and ATAR are competitive, so it really comes down to your interview performance, which we obviously can’t judge. You’ll just have to wait it out, unfortunately. Best of luck.

That's a fat stitch up :/

There is a small possibility you could rank higher than the 2nd-round BMP offer (which has now been upgraded to unbonded) but you were not eligible for the BMP as LMG! has said. With the upgrade the CSP spot should go to you if you were indeed higher but they overlook anyone who has not received an offer. It may be worthwhile to give Adelaide a call but you will need to explain to them in detail of this possibility.
