Monash Monash Medicine: General Entry Discussion

I received the below details for the Monash interview this year:

"The MMI will consist of 6 stations. You will be interviewed at each station by a different interviewer. Each station lasts for 10 minutes. You will be allocated 2 minutes of reading time, before responding to 5 questions relating to the scenario over the remaining 8 minutes"

The other MMI'S I attended (CQU and Adelaide) had a different number of questions at each station (usually 3 or 4).

Is it normal for Monash to have 5 questions at every station?

I also got the same message for Monash. I think Monash will follow this pattern for MMI's.

Hey all, I wanted to ask if I even have a chance of Monash ints, and what are my chances of an offer depending on my interview performance?
UCAT: 2850 (81%ile)
ATAR: expected 97.2 minimum
Adjustments: SEAS (2 out of 4 sections)
State: VIC, no rural
According to Monash SEAS calc, my selection rank would be around 98.5, but definitely no more than 99
How low are my chances guys 😢

Hi, I hate to be the bearer of bad news but you are unlikely to get an interview this year. For first round interviews this year, the metro cutoff was 3020 and for second round interview generally students have a 80+% UCAT and an ATAR in the high 99s (~99.6+ based on what I've heard from friends who got in via second round interviews). If you feel as though with more preparation you could do better on the UCAT next year my advice is to do this. A lot of my cohort got in following a gap year to redo their UCAT and also some of their ATAR subjects to increase their ATAR. Otherwise, it might be best to try for graduate entry after doing your undergraduate degree.

How can you be so confident in saying that?
Hi, sorry for the late reply. I didn't get a notification for the message for some reason. I just finished my first year at Monash University this year, and from talking to friends have a very good idea what kinds of scores are getting offers. I am also staying at a college which is around 80% rural students, so although I am metro, I have a very good idea of rural score requirements as well. As for your question on the rural pool, ~1/4 of places are reserved for rural students, however rural students can also get spots in the other 3/4 (these are not reserved for metro).

In terms of entry requirements, they are the same for all rural applicants regardless of MM rurality classification. However, the higher your MM classification, the higher your number of SEAS points and hence your selection rank, so you will be more competitive if you are more rural.

If you want to gain a better idea of where your specific ATAR and UCAT put you in terms of chances of an offer, I'm happy for you to PM me.

Non-standard entry elsewhere in the country while studying is also an option (though not at Monash unfortunately).

Hi. Can anyone let me know how competitive this course is? I am considering a graduate entry from Otago University, so I want to explore options. I heard most of the seats are reserved for Monash University students. Is it even possible to apply from another university, especially one from New Zealand?

Monash undergrad med does not accept uni-student applicants. Monash graduate-entry is for Monash students only, unfortunately.

Does anyone know if Monash has fully sent their offers for round 1 today? Can people still expected to receive more offers by end of today?

I believe they have. I think vtac send offers up until 2pm. Wondering if Victorian students could still receive an offer in the Feb round?
