WSU & JMP only check your GPA when they do the offers early January, by then your Nov/Dec results are available.even though exams usually end around november?
ohh i see thank you so muchWSU & JMP only check your GPA when they do the offers early January, by then your Nov/Dec results are available.
JCU is slightly different in that GPA is a component in interview selection. Early Nov when they release invites for round1 interviews your 2nd semester results are not out yet, so most 1st-year nonstandards only get invited to round2 interviews.
Eight institutions do not give EAS consideration to EAS applicants who are currently undertaking or who have previously undertaken tertiary study. UNSW is one of them.Just want to know that will you be eligible for EAS after you have started tertiary studies. She has experienced financial disadvantage ( parents hold pensioners card ) during Yr 12 but she is already in Uni. Will UNSW consider her EAS application when she applies for med
Assuming she has already achieved a 96+ ATAR (or 91+ for rural applicants), then yes they will take whichever is higher.( UNSW takes the higher one out of ATAR and GPA ).
Also, are there some criteria's for SCATS (She can't find any online) ?

Assuming you will have completed a full 1st year last year and a full 1st year by end of this yearI am currently a first year (second year total at university) student at AUT looking at applying non standard in Aus. However last year I did study at University of Auckland doing a completely different course/ degree. When applying for non standard entry, would my GPA for my first year at University of Auckland be considered or would it only be my current GPA this year. As I am studying a different course from last year and I did not transfer any grades over.
Some unis accept SAT for non-competitive courses. I have not found any med school say they do for domestic applicants, only internationals. Is sitting the SAT still viable for increasing ATAR conversion for nonstandard entry to UNSW (and other universities), or has this pathway been closed?
Many thanks
I am currently doing a bach. deg in UNSW, my atar didn't met the the 96 threshold, i will be giving UCAT this year. Some unis accept SAT for non-competitive courses. I have not found any med school say they do for domestic applicants, only internationals.
(Still worth a try if you don't mind the relatively small fees).
My guess is SAT won't help you overcome the sub-96 ATAR for UNSW. But (other than SAT is not in UNSW Med's list) I don't have any fact to support so won't talk you out of it.my atar didn't met the the 96 threshold,
I am considering doing SAT this year.
What’s the minimum WAM/GPA needed for non-standard entry? Meeting the threshold, does it mean I qualify for an interview (considering UCAT is high)? You should aim at getting GPA 6.2+ to be eligible/competitive for WSU, JMP, JCU. Or 6.5+ and SAT accepted for UNSW. Good luck.
A competitive GPA for non-standard applicants depends on the university. Certain universities like the JMP have a threshold GPA where any GPA above the threshold is all that is required for that component. Others like UNSW will consider your GPA for offers along with other criteria which normally means your GPA must be quite high for a chance. Most universities will use the GPA and not the WAM.What’s the minimum WAM/GPA needed for non-standard entry? Meeting the threshold, does it mean I qualify for an interview (considering UCAT is high)? Also a little confused, because GPA is determined based on the actual grade, not the mark obtained
Let’s say if
person 1's term 1 results:
- course 1 85 HD
- course 2 85 HD
- course 3 85 HD
their GPA is calculated as (7+7+7)/3 = 7.0, wam is 85
person 2's term results:
- course 1 95 HD
- course 2 98 HD
- course 3 84 DN
their GPA is calculated as (7+7+6)/3 = 6.7, wam is 92.3
How do they shortlist candidates, in this case, person 2 did far better but the GPA is low. Will they be disadvantaged?

Since you've entered into a university they would use your GPA as you are not a school leaver anymore, however UNSW may still use 50% ATAR and 50% GPA (i'm not sure how UNSW works exactly).I recently completed a bachelor's degree (non-health related) with a unweighted GPA of 6.3 (weighted GPA of 6.4). I finished high school 4 years ago with a really high ATAR (99+), but I'm under the impression that I won't be able to use it since I've already completed a degree. Is this correct?
JMP usually requires around the 95th Percentile which is roughly 3100 (i got this from JMP last year) and according to the 2023 interview compiled list the lowest for JMP was 3110. WSU is a bit different as they heavily weight VR (58% im pretty sure) and for JCU they just use ur GPA and written application for an interview. Overall I'd say to aim for over the 3100 mark for at least one interview invite. Also does anyone have an indication as to what UCAT score would be competitive in securing an interview (as a non-standard)? Do universities publish this data?
The unis that accept non standards are JMP (University of Newcastle/New England), JPM ( WSU/CSU), UNSW and JCU. Application process wise just apply through UAC for JMP, JPM and UNSW and QTAC for JCU. The way I see it you'll need to smash your UCAT first before anything else and look at JCU application writing if you are interested in that.I'm new to this forum so I'd appreciate any guidance that comes my way, especially in relation to which universities accept non-standards and their application process/requirements.

Wait we we can apply to curtin as a non-standard?Adding to last resort 's answer.
Leaving out UTas since I don't know what's happening there - Of the five med schools you are eligible, only UNSW uses your ATAR if it's better than your GPA. Unfortunately your 6.3 GPA is likely not high enough, and if your ATAR was sub-99.50 likely not enough either.
Your GPA is sufficient for WSU, JMP, Curtin and you need around 95+%ile UCAT to get an interview. (But note for WSU it can be from 90%ile to 98%ile depending on your VR section score).
6.3 is just competitive enough for JCU, you'll need a very good written application to go with.
Only non-standards who have completed a degreeWait we we can apply to curtin as a non-standard?
