Otago Halls of Residence

Sorry to hear about all the unsuccessful scholarships :( , competition must have been pretty tough, especially for that epic $30,000 I hear they've just introduced.

In relation to an earlier question, the warden of Carrington told me that his general rule is he'll accept anyone who:

- applies in time
and
- puts Carrington as their first choice
and
- doesn't have any issues identified in their school reference
and
- has level 2 with excellence and appears to at least have some sort of life outside academia, OR has level 2 with merit and has demonstrated a high level of achievement/involvement in an extracurricular area

I'm very jelly of the people who got a $30k scholarship! But I'm very happy with my $5k one.

I was so happy in fact, that I made a celebratory chip sandwich.

Congratz for getting a scholarship! 5K isn't a small amount of money at all so you should be very proud of yourself for getting it.

wow congrats guys!

I applied for the Leaders of Tomorrow & Academic Excellence one but didn't get either.
This might just make me feel worse but... medicinegirl you know of TWO people who got the academic excellence one? are they super involved or super smart? or both? haha. what was the criteria, i wonder...

I'm curious about the Academic Excellence one too -- my friends who had 100+ Excellence credits last year didn't get the scholarship(?!?!!). Oh well, one of em will probably get Dux this year anyways.

Congrats Jamjar!
