I never got a HUBS MCQ that used a diagram.

Hey guys- do we need a calculator for the HUBS exam? For calculations regarding tonicity, osmolarity, etc? Thanks
hi guys, which bone cells are involved in the remodeling of bones? I thought it was only osteoblasts and osteoclasts, but I read somewhere that it's osteoblasts + osteocalsts + osteocytes? I thought osteocytes is only used for communications during bone growth?
Could someone please clear this up for me?
Cheers
EDIT: And do we have to know the timeline of bone fracture healing?
Knowing the specific stages and the points in time which they occur will pretty much be it. Edema, Soft callus, bony callus and how many weeks in does each stage occur.
If there are any CELS191 questions I'd be glad to help. LOL.
Yes, I think that's correct - if you are talking about Quadriceps Femoris?its acting as the agonist and therefore concentric right?
no no no not necessarily! <275 means HYPO-OSMOTIC, and >300 means HYPER-OSMOTIC! you've got them the other way around - think of hyperactivity - the HYPER stands for increased craziness (alluding to the high levels of impearmeant solutes)... and the hypo is just the opposite. Oh and also, you can't assume that it will hypo-TONIC or hyper-TONIC... tonicity referes to the effect of a solution on the cell - so this is pretty much only affected by IMPERMEANT solutes (have a quick look at the powerpoints for GLM1 - can't remember which one has the proper definitions, but its on there!) You can only state whether something is HYPO/HYPER/ISO-TONIC when you haven't been told that there is a permeant solute in the mix --- if that makes sense? (Look at the Urea example on the handout) [/QUOTE]the also, the osmolarity of our IC and EC fluid is normally b/w 275-300 mosmol/l...>300 means hypotonic and <275 means hypertonic yeah?
You too!gl for tom morning kids![]()
There was a question from the HUBS booklet (module 1) which I haven't looked at...![]()
Anyone know the answer to the intravenous injection question?
I believe the answer was the 5% glucose. I unfortunatly didn't circle that![]()
