of course we can but i was just a little confused to why they would release the marks for all the others tests and glms that we have done, but they wouldnt release the marks for end of semester exams which are by far the most important :s
I think they've only released the finals mark in previous years. Not entirely sure why, but if you really do want to find out what raw score you got in the exams, there's no other way than to work backwards with knowledge of your terms test results etc.

There seem to be a number of cases of some odd-sounding marks floating around (I've heard of a few from outside of MSO as well).
Which leaves three possibilities:
1) People just didn't do as well as they'd hoped (unfortunately entirely possible).
2) They've made some really harsh calls with marking/the exams have been a bit harder than previous years.
3) They fudged up putting the marks onto PIMS.
Personally, I think it's more likely to be a mixture of 1 and 2, but 3 has happened before, so if your 'unconfirmed' marks seem really really wrong, it is possible that they're wrong.
If marks get confirmed, and you're still confused as to why you've gotten the mark you have, I'd advise going in and having a look at your script at the start of next semester (unlikely to change anything from there, but you'd get answers as to why your marks weren't what you were hoping for).
Hope everyone is happy (enough!) with their marks, and good luck for CELS whenever it comes out. Don't get too disappointed (and certainly don't give up!) if your marks weren't what you were hoping for, there's always MAOR102 to compensate! (And, if it's any consolation, if you're unhappy with your marks, chances are 90% of HSFY is too, so you're not alone. Heck, I was fairly 'blah' about my first semester marks last year).

What would be the chance of all the 3 unconfirmed marks being wrong or two?

I would think that would be very unlikely - perhaps one mark at most?

EDIT: CELS is out now...

Highly unlikely. 'Unconfirmed' is a normal process, just means they need to be checked again. It's unusual enough for them to get one paper wrong, let alone three.

to be honest i dont really trust their marking after all the mistakes that have been done so far, and want to know officially how many marks i in lost in the last exams
They don't release it to blackboard or anything, but you can go in and ask to see your paper if you really think there's something weird going on.

Hey HSFY :)

All the marks are now out!

Congrats to everyone who got marks they were happy with :)
If you didn't get the marks you wanted, don't worry. There's still a whole new semester to go :)

Trust me, I know it's hard. Heck, I'm still in a depressed and worried state.

As I keep trying to remind myself, it's not over yet.

Just work better and harder next semester. And show others what you're capable of :)

For future HSFY:

CHEM- 80% :(
HUBS- 88%
PHSI- 90%
CELS- 86%

do they release a ranking of all HSFY
That would be awesome, but no. The admissions process is fairly opaque at Otago, they don't really tell you much. This is where MSO comes in ;)
n.b: For MSO to be of any use to you lot/future years, you lot need to start sharing some of your marks so we can work out what's going on! :p

Seems like sharing marks will leave a lot of people depressed. Do we really want to head down that road?
*Shrug*, the only reason you lot know what marks to aim at for med, is because last year and the year before, people posted their grades. Obviously you don't have to post them if you're uncomfortable with that, but it certainly serves a useful purpose.

Hubs 92
Cels 91
Chem 93
Phsi 95

Also, if marks were to be scaled up (or down) would this have happened already or is it still to happen?
Well done! And mark scaling would've happened by now (if at all it was done).

Shot The Ranger and DrakeRamoray especially! You guys are aceing Health Sci and are well on your way!
As for the others who feel like they didn't quite do so well; just don't lose hope! You still have Sem2 and UMAT which can change lives...

Wow, some decent scores so far. Wonder if there will be any 100s in CHEM, HUBS and/or CELS. The highest first semester marks I've heard of so far are 100 in CHEM, PHSI, HUBS and 97 in CELS (a friend of mine doing 4th year Med).

Good luck y'all

Didn't do too crash hot either :( A little bit more terrified of next semester, but still hopeful:

CELS - 89
CHEM - 77 :'(
HUBS - 86
PHSI - 86 :(

Must say, HUBS was a little unexpected as with PHSI :(...

Well done to DrakeRamoray? + TheRanger! :)
