Hi, I was wondering if anyone has done their immunity status blood tests? If we are doing it outside of Dunedin, do we first go to a GP to get a form and then get the actual blood tests done at lab test places? I'm not sure how it works so if someone could explain this to me, it would be much appreciated! Thank you.

Got it done just today, take the form in to the GP, they'll either do it themselves or give you a form for a nearby medical lab where it can be done. They take a few samples of your blood and you're done. Results apparently take 2-3 days, so if you want it done before going back to Dunedin you'll want it done in the next couple of days.

Here. Most of this stuff is, surprisingly, on the admissions website ;)

Thanks Frootloop! Still sort of confused, will St John Level One cut it? Because that does the NZQA 26551 and 26552 ones??

"From January 2011, students can submit a First Aid Certificate which included NZQA standards 26551 and 26552. However until December 2013 a valid Certificate which meet NZQA standard 6400 will be accepted."

But then it says "www.stjohn.org.nz - First Aid Level Two"

If it's any help, I e-mailed the health science office a while back and they said they want Level 2 first aid or equivalent.

Alternatively you can do the Red Cross Comprehensive course...
[OFFTOPIC]and congratulations on getting this thread up to 200 posts! Only halfway through the year!!![/OFFTOPIC]

[OFFTOPIC]Unrelated, does anyone know if an Australian St John's First Aid Level 2 is Equivalent to a New Zealand St John's First Aid Level 2?[/OFFTOPIC]

I have a friend at Unicol and she told me that their whole college (those who are doing HSFY) did an one day course from St. John.

Wouldn't this be the First Aid Level One course?

I am confused , gonna call the HS office tomorrow to clarify this.

As far as I remember (I went to UniCol, but didn't actually do the first aid course they organised) they did the 2-day course in one day. I'm not 100% sure on that one though, so calling the HS office would be a good idea (and then post here what you find out, because this is clearly a source of confusion for people!).

I just got off the phone with the HS office. Beth, the lady that I spoke with, said that it is recommended by the department to do what is on the guideline. I.e. "First Aid Level Two" from St John, "Comprehensive First Aid Course" from Redcross, "Workplace Fist Aid" from Meditrain.

She did also say that it shouldn't be a problem if you are currently holding the one-day course (i.e. NZQA standard 26551 and 26552) certificate. If you submitted your application with those, it should be fine. However, if the department later change its scheme, they'll ask the one-day course certificate holder to go back and do another for the 2-day course certificate.

Bottom line, do the 2 day course for NZQA 6400.<_<

How do you find out your results anyways, via email?

I keep having dreams about finding out my results! It's depressing me.. (n)

EDIT: I suppose it's through PIMS! No emails sent to tell you, just gotta find out via friends I suppose.
