Hope you guys get this message: me and skyglow will be late because we need to go back to Aquinas for lunch (between 12-1.15) so we'll be there at 2pm (if you guys still wana meet up then!). Otherwise, let us know when the next meetup is. (:

So saturday, 2.00pm. We figured that for at least the first week, the lectures will probably be going over stuff we know already so we'll do some UMAT..

Bring problems that you don't understand. We'll probably discuss what works and what doesn't work for us. Things we need to work on and how to go about it.. Share some hints/pointers. And anything else if anyone's keen.

Liking the sound of this... Do we meet at the science library?

And all the introductory chem notes. Basic 5th form type work. If the second lecture chem is what most lectures will be like its not as bad as I thought. But then again it IS only the second lecture so only those clever second years will know haha

2nd Chem lecture was still easy, but harder than the first. They mentioned Gibbs free energy, enthalpy of formation and reaction, calorimetry and specific and non-specific heat capactiy (q=mcdeltaT) etc...

Lol one of you needs to a hold an A4 page with "MSO" written in huge letters on it haha. I'll be coming along seeing as I couldn't make it to the first one.

Haha looking forward to it. Did any1 else find the HUBS lecturer (Scottish accent) really hard to hear today?

Definitely. His voice was rather monotonous (not as much as the PHSI lecturer with the crazy hair) and his explanations of the concepts as well as the lecture objectives were generally quite ambiguous. Let's hope we only have him for 2 more lectures *crosses fingers*

Wait to you get to the second topic which is reaction kinetics :D Very difficult to fully understand whats going on if you haven't done it before.

Some facts and figures that might interest you:1536 students in CHEM191 in 2008, and a 73% pass rate, of which 23% got As and 23% got Bs.

Really?? I thought kinetics was awesome..

Everyone at my hall who hadn't done it before struggled lol. Oh and reaction mechanisms in organic but thats soooooooooo far away.

Where'd you get those numbers from Arutha?

Yeah its good how we dont get stuck with bad lectures for the whole semester.
First lab tomorrow! 4 lectures and a lab is such a full on day!

Yes!! the scottish dude was awful! he seemed almost demotivated.
And the phsi guy cant seem to explain his concepts in a way thats understandable.... ive been learning mostly from the texts.
But the chem dude with ringlets is awesome.
Id be keen as to join a study group aswell if your not already full. Discussing the UMAT would be really useful.
