Hmm, so going by what you said, it really does seem a tad bit unfavourable towards international students who did previous tertiary study in an overseas university because either way, they will almost certainly not qualify for med/dent via ANY route at all whatsoever

It's unfavourable towards Australian students (who are not considered "international") who did previous tertiary study in Australia. It's highly unfavourable for international students in general (except the government-sponsored ones). Let me quote this from the information about the MBChB degree at Otago:
Normally, no places are available for independent international students in the Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MB ChB) programme, however a very limited number of places may be available in any year if a reduced number of sponsored students (under the terms of contracts with overseas governments) are enrolled.

Right..It's a polite way of saying that international student will not be offered any place at all for the MBChB degree

As harsh as it is, they do stay it straight up on the website.

As lul said, at least they do say it straight up on the website, rather than just simply reject all international students in their non-transparent admissions system...

As much sympathy as I have for international students doing (or wanting to do) HSFY who are finding this out now, the information has always been available from the MBChB degree information page...

No need to remind that this a public forum. But congrats froot :3

By the way guys, interviews for Dental Surgery/Physiotherapy are released (well for me anyway). Unfortunately I didn't get one for dentistry which was my first option due to my poor UMAT section 2 :(. Oh well good luck for all the interviewees and the HUBS test tomorrow!!!

Got an interview for dent! After reading the email, looks like the interview process is a bit different? You are interviewed by a panel of two, who then judge if you go on for a second interview that same day with a second panel of judges.

That's... New. Last year it was just the sort of 15-20 minute interview with a 'panel' of two, and that was that.

In my email it said "Should the two Assessors' scores diverge beyond a predetermined level, an applicant will be required to remain at the venue and attend a second assessment with a separate panel."

Sounds like american idol.

So, no, it's like american idol where you get 2 judges.
If one judge likes you. . .say. . Paula Abdul, and Simon thinks you are a total twat, you get another chance, with 2 new set of judges. . .say.. . Britney Spears and Demi Lavato.

Wish you all the best in your interviews!

I don't think this is new. Someone I know in my year had to be re-interviewed by a second panel because the first couldn't agree. He ended up getting an offer. This was in 2009 btw.

I think for me, that test would've been the hardest terms test out of all of em! In terms of wording and the lack of lots of super easy giveaway questions.

Hopefully I did alright though. :smiley_pray:
