Hello, just sat the test today at Adelaide Pearson centre. Here are my 2020 and 2019 results. Overall quite happy. Gonna post my mock results in the other thread as well.

That's MSO for you ;) Try not to let it get to you, I am fully confident that 2970 will be well into the 90%ile+ range, just like it was last year and as it always has been. Congrats on your score, especially VR!
Hahah thanks, damn so many smart people on MSO ahah
Hopefully its somewhat like last year, 96 or 97th percentile would be sickkkk

Hey guys, just finished my UCAT today. I will be honest, I am not too happy! I really wanted 3000+ but I guess it doesn't really matter. What more can I do :(

GENERAL THOUGHTS: I am not gonna comment too much on this. Everything ran smoothly at the boxhill test centre where I did my test. We were seated for about 20 minutes and then called up for a photo and security check. We then waited for a invigilator to take us to a room where the computers were.

After AR, I felt I had to completely bombed out the test and basically was in a really shitty mood (pardon my language) for SJT -> Explains this the horrific score lol. I felt my AR sub-test was quite challenging and not as simple as other people describe it to be. Maybe I just got unlucky with my sub-test but I am not a man to whinge! Take it how it is!

VR:
I have no clue how I got 610. VR is my worst section and I thought I would get below 600. I was however very calm during this section and started off really well (in terms of time). I think this really helped. With that said, I did run out of time towards the end so had to guess a couple questions. Not sure about the difficulty but it was pretty much on par with the official resources.
If anyone is wondering, I did read the question before the passage.

DM: WOW! I am extremely happy with this score. DM is not my best sub-test. It is really "on the day" sorta thing for me. However, I managed to get through the entire section and have some time left over which is rare. The 5 drag and drop syllogisms were fairly straightforward, however the logic puzzles were very WEIRD to say the least. Can't say too much in detail though. Otherwise, the probability and venn diagram questions were fairly straightforward.

QR: I have always been a maths guy. However, during the sub-test I couldn't figure out like 3-4 questions. I guessed them and I think I actually got them right lol (only way that explains this score). There was a lot of graphs and tables but I managed to 'skim' it and finish the questions fairly quickly. The official resources are NOT indicative of the difficulty of QR (as said multiple times before). Practice the numpad. Get fast. Get efficient. With those things in place, I believe anyone can get 850+ regardless of their maths abilities.

AR: I don't have much to say here. This is a very disappointing score for me. Not figuring out 2 patterns (10 questions) made me very stressed out as I thought it was over. I did all this practice for nothing. But somehow I didn't get below 700 which is VERY surprising. Official resources were not indicative of the real AR. The real one was much much harder for me personally. Practice SCANS and do it quickly. Most patterns were definitely just SCANS apart from a couple (which again I can't talk about in detail lol).

OVERALL, not bad. I am definitely not the happiest person right now, but what has happened has happened. I think this is a pretty borderline score so I hope I score at least a couple interviews :(

SJT WAS JUST WEIRD MAN. REAL DAMN WEIRD. NEVER ENCOUNTERED THOSE SCENARIOS BEFORE........ Best of luck with it though!

THANKS FOR READING AND FOLLOWING DA JOURNEY HOMIEZ!

Congrats nb! Too bad it wasn't everything you hoped for but you never know how the chips will land with the percentiles so I will keep my fingers crossed for you too :)

Venue: Adelaide Pearson Centre
VR: 650
DM: 750
QR: 800
AR: 660
SJT:678
Total score: 2860
I'm pretty disappointed in the sense that I know this was approximately the cutoff for some of the universities last year (and thereby I am at the mercy of the conversion) and in comparison to my external mock performances (I will be posting this later). That being said, this is the mostly consistent with the scores I've achieved in the official practice mocks so it wasn't entirely unexpected.

VR: I felt the passages were alright. I was a bit nervous going into it. They were of medium length and I felt I had completed most of them to a suitable degree though evidently my scores don't reflect this :/.
DM: pretty standard in comparison to the official mocks. I was a bit more lenient when it came to making inferences which might have been my issue in some of the syllogisms. The Venn diagrams + probability that I rely on for marks were harder than I expected.
QR: I thought this one was quite easy but evidently I made some mistakes. I noticed that I would click to remove the calculator and sometimes this would change my answer response so this might have had an impact on my overall score. This was typically my best section and 800 is on the low end of my results.
AR: I thought I understood most of the sets though I must have missed something. I only fully guessed one. There was a lot more of a specific type of Set AB question (2-3) that I'm just not good at so maybe I just got unlucky :/. I will not go into any further detail about it.
SJT: Was good. I just winged it.

Overall, I'm feeling okay. I'm just going to wait for the conversions before I do anything. If I have to do this again, I'm pretty confident that it will go better :).

Edit: I'd like to thank everyone for their support :)
Good job on your score and you totally deserve it!

I just have a few questions about the venue and it would be grateful if you can answer them for me!
1. How many white boards did you get? (did you get it in a booklet, individual white boards, etc ...)
2. Do they provide ear plugs?
3. How was the test centre in general?

Thank you :)

1. A book (6-7 laminated sheets)
2. Yes even they though they said they wouldn;t :/ What a waste of my money.
3. Quiet and good. (3.1 stars though :/)

Hello, just wanted to post my results after sitting the UCAT today in the Pitt St ITIC. Overall, pretty happy especially since I ended up studying for this pretty late (started 2 weeks prior due to exams on top of exams...etc) and ended up just watching YouTube tutorials and using UCAT mock tests/questions from the official website to prepare.

Verbal Reasoning: 760
To be honest, I was doing much better in UCAT mock-tests averaging 830~ (and the stretched text felt unfamiliar) with this being my best section, but I actually felt distracted by the room - Earplugs actually can be useful for some people and I think that I would have benefited from using them, especially because the clacking of keys from others can be disruptive to your ability to skim-read the passage. Nonetheless, still okay with it.

Decision Making: 870
This was extremely unexpected; I came out of the exam feeling pretty bad but it worked out (the questions weren't as hard as mock-tests)? I think it's important to also keep an eye out on time but this section seems a lot more lenient time-wise than the rest.

Quantitative Reasoning: 880
I found this section quite easy especially in comparison to the mock-tests, however time can still be an issue. I also found that the online calculators and the unfamiliarity of the keyboard really slowed me down though I ultimately ended up completing most of it (with the exception of guessing 1-2 questions).

Abstract Reasoning: 700
I did poorly in this section RELATIVE to my other sections - stress, time constraints - and I think that this section is the one that was impacted the most by a lack of practice by my part (as the other sections aren't as unfamiliar to a complete novice). However, there weren't that many complex patterns (for the ones that I did see) - but extra practice helps to cut down the time spent per question. I am still slightly bummed that this was the one that ultimately dragged my score down since more time would've substantially improved my ability to spot patterns - since I guessed like half.

Total Score: 3210

SR: 647 (alright, but didn't practice as much as I should have - I think I might've misinterpreted some info)

Further comments:

Whiteboards are essentially laminated gridpaper, and you are given a small marker. I recommend taking at least 2 and probably 3 just in case as you can't rub them out.

No water allowed - drink up (but not too much)

Try to calm your nerves before VR

Thoughts on the Venue:
My appointment was at 8:15am but arrived 45 mins early - they didn't even have the doors open that early! Around 5-10 mins later one of the Pearson staff arrived and unlocked the door. Registration was pretty quick, sat there for about 10 mins - temperature was warm but not too warm so quite ideal. At 7:45am they asked if anybody wanted to go in early and I volunteered - got out by 9:50am. It was very professional and smooth - rooms were also super quiet. Monitors and keyboards were of fairly good quality - monitors had a lot lower screen brightness than I was used to. They provided heaps of extra whiteboards and markers (around 10 extra for our room I think).

Exam Review:
In general, I found the exam similar to the official mocks, with the exception of QR which was much easier in terms of time pressure and question difficulty.

Verbal Reasoning - I tried to calm myself in the minute we are given for instructions but my heart was beating so loud no matter how many deep breaths I took - I was a bit shaky but managed to get it all done in the time limit because I guessed some questions that were taking too long, and just moved on. I had like 3 seconds left after the last question though ... so barely made it. The questions were of medium difficulty - not as many inferences as I'd expected.

Decision Making - so surprised at this - usually I'd get on average a 760 later on in my practice. 2-3 questions/logic puzzles were different to what I'd ever seen before but I managed to work them out - finished with around 2 mins to go.

Quantitative Reasoning - SO MUCH EASIER than the official mocks - I was averaging maybe 20/36 on those because I consistently ran out of time but these questions were just fine - simple calculations only - finished with around 2 mins to go.

Abstract Reasoning - AR has always been my weakest area so I'm absolutely stoked with this. My initial practice mocks were averaging around 520 - I literally had to guess 3/4 of the patterns. This is definitely the area you can improve the most in. Even so, I literally did not expect this as there were 2 sets I couldn't figure out the pattern for - I guessed them and came back to them at the end with like 1.5-2 mins to go. I suppose I ended up guessing some of them right because of my score - still in shock!

Situational Judgement - I've always been uncertain with situational judgement questions and tend to have to read some passages like 3-4 times because by this stage my mind is so fried - I was especially uncertain of 3/4 of the last 'Most appropriate/Least appropriate' drag and drop questions. Passages were a little strange - some were not as clear cut as I had practiced so had to use intuition to figure out which 'side' of the answers it would be on (appropriate/inappropriate). Only had 6 mins to check my answers - I know a lot of people usually finish with around 10-15 mins to go! I went through the flagged questions again but only ended up changing one of them - by that time I had 30 seconds left and everyone was leaving the room so I caved and ended the test without changing any of the last drag and drop answers haha. Not sure what this SJT score means in terms of bands?

Overall, so shocked with this score especially as I only intensely studied UCAT for the last 13 days (but I was averaging around 8-10 hours a day of study - I sacrificed trials study completely rip). I first looked at UCAT questions last year in June but completely forgot about it until around the 27th June when all my assessments/exams were finished for the term - I'm not the kind of person who is good at consistent study of 30 mins UCAT per day - I always put it off for more urgent/immediate assessment tasks etc. Don't worry if you don't have heaps of practice time left before your exam- just target your weakest areas intensely (for me it was AR).

Nope, it looks just like last year, except this year we don't have a 3500+ score being reported yet ;)
good ol funtimes LMAO anyways wonder if mso's gonna get a 3500+ this year hmm

That's an insane score- well done! What was your VR strategy?

That's an insane score- well done! What was your VR strategy?

I had a general timing strategy in my head - 20+ questions done with 12 mins to go etc... and if I wasn't keeping to the timing I would force myself to hurry up and guess (logically deducing it from the questions options given) 1-3 q's to catch up with my timing - also I used the true/false/can't tell questions to speed up on my thing because those are generally quicker :). I was around 2 mins behind my ideal timing strategy in the actual test but somehow managed to catch up on the true/false/can't tell q's. Also I resisted the urge to go back and 'check' my previous answers - just kept powering forward with the questions. Don't hit that Alt-P button!

Hi guys this is my 2nd year doing the test and just want to let you all know that if you're disappointed it'll be ok! There is always next year. I know that might be a little hard to hear now, but trust me you can make a big improvement.

So yeah! A 450 improvement difference in marks. Happy and shocked and surprised to say the least. My average on my mocks was 2960 (I'll will post them on the mock thread). Last year after I got my result I was like no way am I doing that again. But decided in March I was going to try again and turns out that wasn't such a bad idea.

VR: I am so happy with a 680. I went in knowing that this was going to be my weakest section. The text were the same length as the mocks I did, but I would say they were of the same difficulty as the official site. The text was stretched but it shouldn't bother you at all. I selected about 4 questions without looking at the question simply because I was running out of time. Surprisingly, I didn't have that many inference based questions?? I had 2 sets of T/F and they were a few questions were I could use keyword to scan.

DM: The y/s questions were exactly like everything I had practised, not too hard but not too bad either. The more "riddle" like questions (the one's with people, if you know what I mean) were definitely complex and usually I get those all right. The probability questions and ven diagrams I also found quite simple.

QR: I'm not disappointing at all with 800 buttttt I did think I was going to get higher than that. Especially considering the marks I was getting in my mocks. Nonetheless still really happy! Lots of reading and interpreting info off graphs. But apart from that really simple questions, you just have to accept that with some questions you need to move on. Very similar to prep company questions and nothing like official practise questions. The questions I had at least didn't have much writing.

AR: Pretty much exactly like the official question bank. I thought it was going to be easier based off what people were saying. For most questions I found one rule and just went with it. But if you know SCANS and have been practising alot you should be able to get somewhat of an idea about what the rule is almost straight away. AR is just exposing yourselves to as many questions as possible. Unfortunately I only had about 30 seconds to go back to 2 sets I flagged, which is definitely where I lost the majority of my marks. But overall pretty good section.

Heaps of people have written about the ITIC centre so don't really need to write about that, but if you have any more questions let me know.

Hi everyone,
Sat my UCAT yesterday (Brisbane: Adelaide Street) and got my scores a few hours later. I am quite happy with this score considering I was averaging around 2800 in mocks.
But I can't help but wonder whether my VR and SJ scores will come back to haunt me. Any feedback is appreciated

As for the actual exam, I felt everything but VR was very doable compared to the official mocks (especially QR and AR). VR passages were lengthy and had mainly inference based questions. Being able to speed-reed would definitely help here!

Hi I’m also taking the UCAT but it’s my first time. I’ve practise a lot but am averaging 2400 on mocks and it seems like I’m destined for that in the real exam :( what would you say you did “wrong” or regretted doing the first time that you improved on or just avoided doing the second time?

Heyy everyone, hopefully all is well. Wanted to share my results to receive and share advice. Remember though, only high achievers usually post their scores, so don't overestimate the number of high achieving scores, though mine isn't particularly high 😰

These are my scores for this years UCAT which I sat today. Unfortunately its borderline 90th percentile I think, and I'm honestly just hoping that it'll be enough. Key thing to notice is an improvement in marks, contrary to what some may say about not being able to improve in an aptitude test like the UCAT.

VR: It was overall very similar to last year and practise questions. Method I used was skim, scan and read questions using logical thinking, removing obviously incorrect answers. Long term study works.

DM: I thought I did much better than last year, and had 2 mins to spare but was clearly mistaken. I'd suggest practising with UCAT resources, but overall similar in difficulty. Short term study works.

QR: Definitely much easier than official practise questions. You simply have to learn to think quick, and skip any potentially time consuming questions to maximise your score; every mark counts. Short term study works.

AR: Honestly had a couple patterns I was unsure of, though others were very straightforward. Best method for prep is a wide scope of practise, preferably longterm study.

Overall: I do wish I scored a little higher just to be safe, though I'm hoping I can score an interview or two regardless. Though it'd be on the low end of the percentiles, hoping to make up for it in interviews.

Advice: If you don't get it the first try, keep hope and try again because numerous people have scored better this year than last year :). Don't deny your study for high school because you need that too. Best to achieve both high marks, but if possible lean towards ATAR or equivalent because that'll get you into other degrees if you don't make it in med this year. Hopefully that helps at least one of you reading this feel more relaxed- Best of luck to all candidates! 😁
