If a student gets UCAT score of 3410, then still 99.50 is needed for UNSW interview? thanks

If recent years are anything to go by, UNSW will end up with an effective ATAR ‘cut off’ of around 99.50-99.55 (regardless of UCAT).

Lots of subtest mocks. I actually never went past 2900 in my mocks - I don't know why, I would do well in my individual subtests.

did my UCAT today and got the following results:
VR: 620
DM: 660
QR: 880
AR: 690
Total: 2850

Do I have a shot at any uni anywhere in Australia? I know that VR score is probably gonna hurt my chances a lot

Most Unis in Australia look at the UCAT as the total score of the first 4 sections namely VR, DM, QR, and AR which is out of a total of 3600, Universities like WSU seem to weigh the VR section much more than the other 3 whilst UQ Dentistry adds on the SJT Section. Now a competitive score purely depends on what Uni you are applying to and their academic requirements. For example, Newcastle Uni only uses the atar as a threshold and UCAT only for the interview offer, the actual place offer is purely based on your interview. That said, I would think for a non-rural applicant a competitive UCAT score would be over 3000. Please correct me if I am wrong lol

I was just wondering, for rural students, do the universities have a lower cut-off for the UCAT. Let's say UNSW has a cut-off of minimum 50% percentile UCAT, so does that only apply to non-rural students, or does it also include rural students???

Sorry to bring you bad news, 2820 normally is a good score but with Aus' score inflation doesn't look enough for anywhere unless you're rural.

UNSW's 50%ile is just an eligibility measure, far from enough to get an interview. Interview selection is based on ATAR+UCAT combined, even the highest ATAR 99.95 still needs like 88-90%ile (or 99.20 needs 99%ile for example).

Your best chances are the two non-UCAT schools. Try push your ATAR to 99.70+ for Griffith/USC, or write a great application for JCU. All the best.

The schools don't set a lower UCAT cutoff for rural, but rurals do enjoy a lower cutoff due to the facts the ratio of rural applicants to interviewees invited is much lower. Example UNSW 2800 non-rural applicants for 450 interview spots, rural ~300 for 150.

Sub-50%ile are ineligible for UNSW, rural or non-rural, regardless of their ATAR.
Other schools don't have this UCAT eligibility thing, they let the competition sort it out. Thus I show above last year a rural applicant got WSU interview with 35%ile.

Oh ok. So this is only at UNSW? Would you also be able to know the UCAT indicative score for Monash University for RURAL Students? I went to their website and they only said 2900, but it would not include rural students.
