Predicting UCAT Scores from Mock Exam Results

Hi! I posted on the post-ucat thread and someone asked me to post on this thread (it's my first time on a forum...is it possible to tag that person to notify them??)

I only spent a week and 3 days (and maybe some weekends before that just to familiarise myself with the test format for preparation, which in hindsight was not enough, especially for AR. But my school really tried to fit all the assessments in later cause of covid...but anyways, I wasted my prescription and only did 4 timed mocks *sigh*

I didn't keep my score for the official mocks because I got so bad in QR and AR... so don't worry about those if you did badly. Overall my scores were consistent with the mocks, so I think they are a good gauge at what you can get in the UCAT. I remember feeling super tired and was in a really bad mood for mock 6 because I did a long day of practice, which affected my concentration. So make sure you are in a good mood on the day and you might surprise yourself with an amazing score!!!

Also, can anyone tell me if 622 is an okay/safe SJT score?? I have no clue what it translates to (hopefully it isn't tragic at least).

For DM how did you caculate your scores? I keep getting 700-900 over and over and its not very useful its a huge range. Last year when I did it I would get more narrow ranges like 700-800 or 800-850 so its weird that they have given such an inaccurate range (I know 23/29 isn't going to be a 900 come on)
Also 622 SJ would be safe for all Australian unis with your overall score

Sorry if I'm wrong but you might find the conversion tables online useful? Just search one up and you can count how many of the 38 total marks you get. (Cause of the two mark Y/N questions)

Hey, yeah it's not very helpful but I generally got an idea of where I was sitting in that range just from how many questions I got wrong and also from the standard deviations/normal distribution curve. But I'd suggest don't worry too much about these things - just focus on improving for test day!

-I pretty much completed these in order, except I saved mock 7 for last
-I started my first mock in Feb, and you can see the improvement I've made- don't get disheartened by crappy scores
-The percentiles given were pretty much on point for the initial 10, the additional 5 are good for exposure but aren't necessary imo
I've really benefited from this thread by comparing my scores to Ucatboy, Funtimes and the others (and I nearly caught up too!), and I'm just doing my part and paying it forward

Didn't record my scores for the official mocks but I can assure you that they were not that good ESPECIALLY Abstract Reasoning.
Started studying in April, didn't really take it seriously until almost exactly a month before the exam.
Also, just to provide some context, I was predicted a 35 IB score so I was pretty hopeless about my admission chances. So I just want to tell you academic powerhouses (and graduates!) in the forum that you can definitely do well in UCAT even if you weren't literally top of the class in school or anything like that. Like obviously ATAR is important but don't get disheartened about your prospective UCAT performance just because you don't have a 99.95 ATAR. And if you do have a 99.95 ATAR... tell me your secrets!

There are multiple conversion tables available online that will translate your raw scores into scaled scores if you search for them. Sorry LMG! for linking that, I didn't realise they offered paid resources and looked at the conversion table only. Oops...

multiply each percent by 600 and add 300. E.g. for Mock A VR: 30/44*600+300=710 (rounded up). A 700 is a decent score and a 800 is an amazing score basically.

I think I got way too used to the test taking format of these externals that I had taken and developed strategies that never really applied to the actual thing.I have high hopes for next year if necessary . (I'm lazy. Calculate the averages yourself but I think I'm higher)

The questions followed patterns that I recognised. E.g. the questions only required you to skim the first line or whatever in VR in order to get an answer. It's hard to explain really.
