Supply and demand. For people that want to stay in Sydney – UNSW, USYD and UWS are their only options (JMP is in Newcastle), and because there are so many applicants each year, and the academic culture being quite competitive with so many selective schools, cutoffs are high not just for UNSW but for all of them.

Yeah, ATAR requirement for USyd = 99.95, and, historically, UMAT requirement for WSU was around 95th%ile (non-rural, non-GWS).

Hey does anyone know if overseas schools ina developing cou try are eligible for satac UES? Im a domestic student who lives overseas.

Call SATAC on 1300 138 440 or +61 8 8224 4000 from overseas.
We have had members calling from interstate to ask whether their schools were eligible.

Hi, If I enter a single unit non award program at an australian university(to satisfy the english prerequisite) am I still eligible to apply for school leaver medicine courses that state 'only school leavers who have not commenced any form of tertiary study'?

I suggest you only take one that's called Bridging English, like this > Bridging English

If it's a regular unit that 1st year students take it's likely to fall foul of the rule "no tertiary academic record".

Btw UQ College provides this course free, but it takes 28 weeks of study > Programs | UQ College

In UAC my applications have changed to say "Minimum admission criteria met. You will be competing with applicants for an offer" at the bottom - does that mean they've got confirmation that I've done the direct university applications as well, or does it just say that by default? Asking because I can't get back into my WSU application and it's making me paranoid (although I do have the email submission confirmation).

Mine says the same thing. I'd be quite interested to know if anyone else's says something different.

Mine says that for both UNSW and WSU, but not JMP? I tried to redo an application to JMP and it already says I've made one, but UAC still says 'To be considered for admission applicants need to have sat UCAT before 31 Jul 2019 & must submit a direct application to the University by 30 Sep 2019 '. Anyone else have this or is mine a stuff up?

My JMP application has updated (to Minimum admission criteria met etc) but I submitted mine on the 10th, so a few weeks have passed. When did you submit yours? It could possibly just take a while to update

I submitted mine on the 15th. I'll send them an email. Hopefully this clears up soon.

Surely among the 20,000-ish people who took the UCAT there must be at least two individuals with the same name and DoB. I wonder what QTAC would do in that situation.
Nah whole name including middle name. It is very very unlikely that will happen. Based on the infinite combination numbers of names. Birthdays is very likely to have many people with the same bday. I am sure qtac probably has some other attribute about a person that is included maybe like school that can make up the unique identifier. It all runs off a database, so if this were to happen, they would not be able to have two of the people with the exact same identifiers in the database it would just reject the input.

I'm sure you would have provided your phone number and/or home address to both Pearson and QTAC. If two students come up with same Name & DoB the matching program can alert QTAC to manually match using phone/address.

Spoke to QTAC about this today. I was asked to contact UQ as UCAT Results directly going there. Person from UQ informed that they are compare name DOB and email address.

You may need to provide some clarification on what you want to know here; this is a pretty broad question!
I was unsure whether to put UQ dentistry before JCU.

Probably need to know more about your considerations to give you a more informed choice. No one dental/medical school is necessarily 'better' than another – it comes down to what you're looking for. Are you interstate? Are you looking to practice metro or rural? etc.

As above: Have you looked up either of the courses online yet? Would you prefer to live in Brisbane or Cairns for the next 5 years? Do you have any interest in rural dentistry? Without any information it's very difficult for us to offer any advice.
