Probably need to know more about your considerations to give you a more informed choice. No one dental/medical school is necessarily 'better' than another – it comes down to what you're looking for. Are you interstate? Are you looking to practice metro or rural? etc.
from sydney . possibly metro . how many yrs of studies etc.

Hey if a university says they only use 3 A Level subjects and my grades are 3A*s(the maximum) does that mean my equivalent atar is also the max-99.95?

The university said even though they use 3 a levels and that 3A*s is the maximum achievable, the equivalent atar will only be determined in december.
Do you have an idea whether the atar will be 99.95

I have no idea for A levels specifically, but we have heard of other instances where obtaining the maximum result possible according to the marking you’re directly measured against does not convert to an automatic ATAR equivalent of 99.95 (ie. 7.00 GPA = 98.00-99.50 ATAR equivalent for UAC, depending on length of study).

Similar to LMG's reply, IMO saying 3A*s being maximum is akin to saying Qld's OP1 is the maximum so OP1 is converted to 99.95, which we know is not the case.

Google "UAC Table A9" you will see with HSC you need 5 subjects with an average of 89 to get ATAR 99.0, average 91 for 99.5, average 95.4 for 99.95. To equate 3 A*s (90+) to 99.95 is overgenerous. If we look at it the way Gemsas gives grade points to grades without specified marks, since 3A*s can be anywhere between 99.2 and 99.95 and there is no further marking data to delineate they should be given the mid-point 99.60.

I know you have to submit a direct application to UNSW, JMP, JCU and WSU as well as applying through UAC/OTAC but I was wondering if theres any other uni's (all states) you have to submit a direct application too as well?

You need to ask your school to submit on your behalf a predicted ATAR form to JCU & Curtin (and UWA for WA students). I'm pretty sure there isn't any other direct application.

Hey guys, now that UWA has changed their weightings of ATAR:UCAT: interview from 40:20:40 to 33:33:33, would this mean that, on average, offers will require a higher UCAT score and possibly a lower ATAR? I've noticed that for UWA, the ATARs seem to be relatively high and the UCATs seem to be relatively low. Would it change to better match something like Monash's local offers, granted that UWA doesn't offer to people below a 99?

Yes the low-end successful combos will shift toward lower ATAR + higher UCAT than previous years. Not sure how they compare to Monash's though.

Hi pls help. I want to study medicine in 2020 and has UCAT score 99 percentile. I am doing 4u maths 3umaths physics economy and chemistry.so far my chemistry is average.others are top 20. I want to drop chemistry so I can concentrate on others to maximum my ATAR. Is it good idea to do this?

Without Chem you won't be eligible for JCU Monash UTas Curtin. If you are okay with applying only to the other schools it's fine.

Have a look in this table for more info > [Undergrad] - (2019 Updated) Med schools Selection Criteria Y12s & Non-standards

If I did 1 semester full time in one course and did a midyear switch to another course and did a semester of that, is that still considered 1FTE and will the gpa be calculated an average of both of them?

Hi! I just wanted to ask, if I undertake the UQ provisional course for med, does that mean that during the first three years I'm still able to apply to WSU and UNSW given I resit the UCAT since I haven't yet started the med course? Or if during the final year of my undergrad course, if I sit the GAMSAT, am I still able to apply to post-grad schools like USYD for the following year? I really want to do med so if its my only choice I would accept the offer to study interstate but my preference is to study in NSW so I just wanted to know if that's possible if I go UQ?

Yes and yes to re-apply and GAMSAT.
MSO sn1p started UQ then got into WSU the next year.

English assessment marks prior to trials were mostly at average or below average and marks for other subjects are fairly ok. .Predicted ATAR with school assessment marks was 98.5 .But predicted ATAR based on trials is 99.5 ( done well on trials) . studying in top 10 schools in NSW. what are the chances of getting a actual ATAR above 99.
appreciate any feedback and thanks in advance.
