Oh wow, didn't know that haha. So around what were the percentiles required for interview invitation for UWS & JMP in the past few years, considering you are a non-rural and non-GWS year 12 student?
Neither of these universities used percentiles for interview invites. JMP would use your section 1 score (there was previously 3 sections on UMAT) as long as all sections had a minimum of 50 (I think the minimum section 1 was around 58-60 depending on the year). WSU previously used section 1 + section 2 + 0.1 * section 3. So you can see that it was really based on what sections the university used not on the overall percentile and so you cant really apply it to UCAT (yet).

What is the difference between a selection rank and your ATAR? I've seen SATAC and QTAC talk about how you get extra points if you fulfil x and y criteria, but it only ever says that these 'bonus points' are added onto your selection rank and not your ATAR. Is there a meaningful difference between the two?

Unless you resit Y12 your ATAR is set in stone. Bonuses cannot change it. So just terminology, they say bonuses are added to your Selection Rank to not give the impression that your ATAR has become higher.

how do you repeat the HSC?

Hi, just a quick question about WSU previous umat (now ucat) cut-offs. I know its a pain, but does anyone know what was the lowest umat percentile that a non-gws applicant received an interview invite with? Thanks so much :)

Have a look at the collated interviews thread. It’s not a pain at all because the info is there ready for you.

Adding to LMG, note that WSU appeared to weight S3 less for umat so interview offers didn't correlate exactly with percentile. Note sure how they'll consider UCAT this year, but fingers crossed I can scrape an interview (non-GWS)

Has anyone else filled out their direct application for UWS med yet? I'm confused why there isn't a section where they ask you whether you'd like to be considered for a bonded medical place; is this a mistake/have I missed something, or is there another place in which they will ask you to select your preference? Not sure where else they'd ask you to voice your preference for bonded/unbonded, since UAC does not take responsibility of that??? Please help a lost boy out :)

Or do they just offer you a bonded place if you're ranked near the lower end, and you just decline/accept accordingly?

I believe WSU don't get you to state whether or not you want a bonded place. They will consider you for both (i.e. they allocate places for unbonded first and following those places being filled, they allocated the bonded places).

Is there any point in forgoing a 3+3 structure in UWA via bmedsci for a bphil instead? Since a bphil isn't technically a bmedsci degree, does that mean that you would have to do a 4 year undegrad in bphil followed by 4 year MD, for 8 years in total? Am I completely misunderstanding what a bphil is?

Should I preference Monash Extended Rural Cohort over Bonded given that the Return of Service for the latter is now 3 years instead of 1?

Hey guys, for JMP do they only look at UCAT for interview? Or will they also look at my GPA from last year aswell for the interview?

UCAT only for interview invites. If you do well enough in the interview for a place offer, they’ll then check that your GPA meets the hurdle requirement.

This is a personal decision, but if I was in a similar position I’d be preferencing ERC every time. A few years of studying medicine in a rural area is much less of a commitment than 3 years in the workforce with a commitment to the government (especially considering you’re required to do a minimum of 18 months post-fellowship with the new bonded requirements).

I haven't checked, but if you can do MedSc as part of your BPhil then it should be 4+3. Otherwise 4+4. Very difficult to justify vs 3+3.

Another question: Ii'm an interstate applicant on QTAC - what should my preferencing be on QTAC? Sorry if this is a stupid question - I'm unsure of how their uni websites work and I can't seem to find information on length of degrees. Also, I see that for UQ med it has two separate options for both bonded and unbonded, while griffith and USC and JCU all just have a single entry on QTAC. Does that mean that for these ones, they can offer you either?

Yes, so some unis will make you use two preferences if you want to apply for both bonded and unbonded and some don’t, but will perhaps ask for your preference in the direct application, or just offer you what you’re eligible for.

As for how you preference things, I think you just put them in the order you would prefer them. There are rumours that go around every year that JCU only interview people who have it as their first preference and every year people who have it as their 4th or 5th preference get interviews, so don’t be swayed by those if you see them floating around!

Re: length of degree.

UQ 3+4 (minimum)
USC 3+4 (minimum)
Griffith 2+4 (minimum)
JCU 6 (minimum)
