Hi everyone,

I have a 99.70 ATAR and 3050 UCAT and am from Brisbane. Currently I have not received any medicine offers in QLD as well as interstate. In previous years these results would usually be good enough for UQ, Griffith, USC etc. I was wondering if anyone knows how many offers have been sent out to UQ and Griffith and USC for medicine this year and if there is any chance now that I could potentially get a late offer for QLD medicine or medicine interstate?
Griffith and USC would be unlikely as the cut-off would have to drop by .10 for USC and .15 for Griffith. UQ has quite a few rejections so there is a chance for an offer as quite a few NSW applicants do reject their offers. UQ is likely to be your best bet for an offer, but it's still worth it to consider alternative options

did anyone( NSW students) receive Griffith Gold Coast or Nathan offer? What's ATAR?
It seems like this application cycle required a 99.85+ ATAR for Griffith but I presume it may have been higher for NSW students

Which unis did you have interviews for?

Hi i am planning to take a gap year and i was told that some med schools do not allow for gap year studnets to apply… could anyone possibly tell me the name of the schools that allow for gap year students to apply as a standard school leaver?

thank you so much

Definitely not UQ. I’m not sure about CQU but given the connection to UQ, I’d also say no. We have a gap year thread, if you have further questions please post there.

Hey guys, i just wanted to ask a question. I am a non-standard applicant intending to apply to dent in griffith and uadel, I've already completed 1FTE. would it be alright to take 6/8 subject this year in the same degree and i was wondering if this would affect my eligibility for admissions. Thank you

Nope, this would be fine as far as I know, and wouldn’t affect your chances on its own (obviously the GPA you achieve will affect your chances - good or bad - but you won’t be penalised for 6/8).

I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this ... but if you finish an undergrad degree and are looking to get into medicine via the postgrad pathway, are you limited to only completing the GAMSAT? Or could you do both the GAMSAT and UCAT in one year to technically increase the number of unis that are available to you?

SLP the above is correct with a few unis missing. You can also apply to JCU and UNSW with a completed degree. And LaTrobe/UMelb if you’re rural.

Note: Bond and JCU don’t require UCAT or GAMSAT. They have their own unique requirements instead. I’m not sure about the LaTrobe pathway requirements.

Note2: Just to clarify, these unis aren’t graduate entry however. They’re ‘non-standard’ entry into 5-6 year (or equivalent in the case of Bond) undergraduate degree pathways. Also, Bond will classify you as a graduate, but you still do an undergraduate Med degree. (As opposed to *most GAMSAT requiring unis that grant you entry into a 4 year degree).

*Note3: I say most because Utas have recently announced they are starting GAMSAT-based entry for graduates from next year, but you still, weirdly (!), are competing against school leavers who’ve sat UCAT and for a place in a 5 year undergraduate degree.

Thanks for pointing that out! I'm more familiar with post-graduate entry than UG entry haha

Hi, I graduated high school with an ATAR of 99.4. However, I was unfortunately unsuccessful in the interview offer I received. I accepted a biomedical science degree however I decided that I want to take a gap year and try again in the next intake. In this time I will be resitting UCAT, working, volunteering, and trying to gain experiences that will build my character. I was wondering if there is a discord server or community of people in a similar position in regards to taking a gap year and trying again that I could join?

I am doing this too. Was such a tough decision but looking forward to a great year.. Let me know if you find a community of people!
I will create a discord. Not sure if I can post the link here but if anyone reads this and wants to join just message me and I will send the link.
Best wishes
:D

In particular griffith bachelor of med?
i have a high atar and just realised that griffith uni doesnt require ucat for med so i didnt apply for sem one.

Bond Med occasionally have a September intake but I think you have to have applied for the May intake to be eligible. Otherwise, no.

If you have an ATAR high enough for Griffith Med this year (99.85+) but didn't apply, you should not start uni to remain eligible next year. If you have started or enrolled consider withdrawing asap.

Yes im taking a gap year :) but was wondering if there was anyway i could start grffith uni this year… as it seems a like a waste of time if im already eligible TT

What do u mean by may intake? Is there a may intake for griffith med this year and when can i apply?

They have an intake quota each year. To let you in they'd have to kick out someone who applied while you didn't, so nope no hope for you until next year.

EtA: Are you still in NZ? Come over quickly work a year to save up money for future tuition fees, I hear they're crying out for kitchen hands washing dishes ;)

LMG meant need to have applied for Bond's May intake to be eligible for Bond's Sept intake. No Griffith May intake.
