Does anyone know how likely is a top up offer for WSU med and when does the official rejection come through?
I know I shouldn't pin any hopes on it but .... :)

Top up offers definitely happen but they are the exception, not the norm, and if you’re hoping for one it’s also very important to organise your back up plan. The official rejection emails possibly won’t come (if at all) until the cohort is finalised. This can be as late as o week.

What LMG! said: there seems to be a few top ups each year but not that many. Unfortunately these can also come through quite late - I recall from two years ago one person getting an offer at the end of Orientation Week, and having to move cities over the weekend to start the semester on time.

Presumably this was because someone else was sitting on two offers and didn't bother to decline WSU when accepting their other one. Moral of the story - be nice to your fellow students and decline unwanted offers ASAP :)

Just on the note of top up offers, I was able to get an offer for WSU but I didn't get a UNSW offer. I know top ups are already incredibly rare but if I wanted to leave the option open for a UNSW top up how would I go about that?

I need to accept/decline the WSU offer by 30th Jan so if I went ahead and accepted that now and enrolled in classes would that make me ineligible for future UNSW offer rounds? Do I just accept it but not enrol in classes just yet and wait for the next offer round to see if I managed a top up offer?

Was just hoping for any clarity on how I can go about retaining the WSU offer and still being eligible for a UNSW top up offer in the slim chance that I could get it. Thank you!

Just accept WSU and enrol. As long as UNSW is your top preference in UAC, you’re eligible for a (rare) top up. If you were fortunate enough to receive one, you’d just unenrol from WSU. This happens every year, it’s a pretty straightforward process, tbh, nothing to worry about.

Now confirmed no offer. Is there any more round/chance?
There are top up QTAC rounds up until Feb 17 (on Tuesdays and Thursdays) but JCU might not have very many spots left to top up if they over offered in Round 2.
Maybe one of the mods might have an idea how likely it is for a top up offer??

JCU have a reputation for over-offering and years of data to guide how much they over offer by. This means, generally, top ups are minimal for them. edit: just saw the original comment referred to JCU Dent. My reply assumed Med, but I think it still largely stands.

Hi, I was unsuccessful at getting offers for dentistry this year due to my ucat score (2600)… however, i do have an unadjusted atar score of 99.95.
i am thinking of taking a gap year to improve my ucat score.
1. If i do take a gap year without taking any further studies does this mean that the prerequisites for the year 12s this year still apply to me?
2. Also, are their universities that do not accept gap year students?
btw, i only intend to apply for dentistry.

3. my main goal is to go to uq dent, and ive seen contradicting messages here as some say that uq dent doesnt accept gap year students but some say they do.. could so,eome please clarify?

4. Lastly, will taking a gap year put me at a disadvantage to the current school leavers or will they consider us equally?

thank you in advance

Try to answer your questions.

1. Yes
2. All the undergraduate dent (i.e. JCU, UQ, Griffith, CSU, La Trobe and UAdel) accept gap year students.
3. UQ dent accepts gap year but UQ med not. However, it looks like you have to achieve high UCAT score 3740+ (including SJT).
4. No, you will be considered equally.

Would any of these answers change if I am a New Zealand applicant?
Thank you for andwering btw!!

Hi everyone,

I have a 99.70 ATAR and 3050 UCAT and am from Brisbane. Currently I have not received any medicine offers in QLD as well as interstate. In previous years these results would usually be good enough for UQ, Griffith, USC etc. I was wondering if anyone knows how many offers have been sent out to UQ and Griffith and USC for medicine this year and if there is any chance now that I could potentially get a late offer for QLD medicine or medicine interstate?
