Specific Question: Is there a point in applying for Monash with my ATAR? It’s lower than most people’s on here.
Unfortunately Monash is very unlikely to work out without any bonuses. JMP and WSU will be your best chances.

Good luck! :)

WSU allocates around half the interview spots to GWS against a smaller number of applicants so the interview cutoff has been several %iles lower than non-GWS. I'm optimistic you will get one, with about 40% chance for an offer.

You are likely borderline for interviews with JMP (25% offer chance) and Adelaide (pretty low chance due to ATAR 96.70).

I don't think you are eligible for UQ due to being gap year.

Hi,
Historically, what has been the lowest Atar required with a 99+ UMAT for an interview offer for Monash?

Assuming this question is for interstate applicants it seems Monash has an ATAR cutoff of 99.0 regardless of UMAT. There was an applicant with 98.9+99%ile who didn't get an invite.

To add onto the above question, what would be the lowest ATAR possible to be able to get an offer as an interstate student from Monash. If I had a 3300UCAT+700SJT, would the minimum atar necessary be around a 99.9 or would it be a bit lower?

With 99%ile UCAT you should only need 99.0+ (or say 99.2+ on the safe side) to get an interview. Your offer chance will then be from 40% to 80% depending 99.2 or 99.9.

In 2018 these two interstate people were invited:
94th%ile, 98.75, interstate
91st%ile, 98.30, SEAS, interstate
These seem like massive outliers - what's up with these, and why weren't similar scores reported last year?

Also on another note regarding the SEAS one, does that mean that the boosted SEAS score was a 98.30 or was the raw 98.30 and the applicant received SEAS bonuses to a higher, unknown selection rank?

Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe the 98.30 ATAR is raw (probably scaled higher than 99.00 with SEAS).

Sorry I remembered the case the wrong way around. The applicant who didn't get a Monash invite had 99.90+89%ile and I meant to say Monash may have had a 90%ile cutoff for interstate regardless of ATAR > Med Place Offers 2017 (Offers Only - All Unis)

Either that or this^ was particular to 2017 intake while 2018/19 was not as tough.

Rural Applicant: No
GWS Applicant: Yes
Indigenous Applicant: No

Specific Question:
-what are my current chances of getting an offer for each university?
-to compensate for my ucat score, what would be the lowest ATAR required for me to gain an interview invite or even an offer?
-which universities (e.g. I’m presuming Monash) are not worth applying based on my status?

I'm pretty sure you will get an interview with UWA, but borderline for UQ bonded and WSU, UNSW, JMP, Adelaide, Curtin interview.

Once you get the interviews your best chance for a place offer is WSU with ~40% being GWS. The rest I'd say around 20-25%.

You'd need to raise your ATAR to 99.4-5 to be more certain of interviews with UNSW & Curtin together with higher offer chances. Griffith Flinders Monash are lost causes I think but I suggest you still put in an application for Monash in case your ATAR comes out better than expected.

They probably won't get a WSU interview since WSU is not heavy on rural. JCU is dependent on the written application/submission (edited by LMG to delete UTAS information).
But yes they should get interviews with JMP and Curtin (if Curtin accepts RA-2 as rural).

Btw aren't they applying for Monash grad entry?

I’m sure you’re already aware, but you’re sitting in a very good position as a rural applicant with those scores! Definitely expect interviews from UNSW (and any of the other interviewing universities if you choose to apply to them). :)

Cheers Crow. I'm pretty confident for the interview itself, but hypothetically if I don't do as well ATAR-wise as I hope (say only 98) would I still be pretty strong given rurality?

Yep, you shouldn’t have problems getting an interview with that UCAT score! Naturally you’d have a little less lee-way in the interview itself if that was the case, though.

Your friend isn’t currently eligible for UTAS as a non-school leaver enrolled at Monash, just FYI. It appears they may be eligible to apply for 2023 entry if they don’t secure anywhere prior, but let’s hope it doesn’t come to that!

will 83 get my cousin into dent?
Probably a little low for uq (possibly but only if it is a very low year) and CSU, but Adelaide is definitely possible and UWA as well if you are in highschool. Other options are JCU and Griffith (need probably a 6.75 for any chance or above a 99.80)

It might not be so cut and dry for UWA dent this year because they are changing the weightings to be 1:1:1 instead of 1:2:2 so now UCAT is worth more than it was before. If they are a school leaver, I reckon it is still possible but definitely harder than previous years due to the increased importance of the UCAT.
